Actually, a good solution is head to university early. Some would be paid by grants and it would give the kids a chance to get loans to get through. (That's what I did to get out of an abusive home life). There are other solutions too. Recovered buildings would work well with a city grant to let the kids run it as they see fit, and have ownership of their lives with mild adult intervention.

Poor girl. It breaks my heart knowing that there are abusive people in the world, who don't care for others than themselves. The fact that Deb had cerebral spinal fluid leaking into her nasal cavity, just shows how badly injured she was. It may have seemed minor, but if she hadn't gone to Chicago med for help, it would have continued to leak. And if enough cerebral spinal fluid leaked out, she would have been in serious trouble. The body produces cerebral spinal fluid 24/7, but a continous leak would have put a dangerous strain on her body and brain. I hope that man is put behind bars for good for what he did to Deb.

Actually I am a social worker and worked as a child’s social worker for over 3 years. If this was real after children’s services is told about the boyfriend abusing or even if not told we wouldn’t just place her back home without doing some checks. If it’s best it’s not safe for her to be sent home she would have been either placed in foster care or ga residential placement depending on what’s best for her. Some teens can’t live with families they just don’t feel comfortable with it, or it can be just too traumatising I’ve dealt with this before. Next we have to work with the mother or father or both, to help her get off drugs and she needs to leave the boyfriend. She would need to talk parenting classes and engage with assessments etc.. and in the meantime we would look for relatives who are trust worthy to look after her. Background checks would be done on everyone who placed themselves forward to care for her. If mum doesn’t engage or things don’t change then we’d either place her with family or go to court to request she remains in childrens services. Around all this she would get supports with school counciling if needed, and helping her have some sort of contact with her mother if she wants this, it’s her choice... finally just to add children’s social workers do not want to take children from families we believe children are best with thier families but unfortunately some children just can’t live with thier families due to various reasons that place them in danger or exposes them to harm. We have to put the child’s need first in everything we do. A lot of people think we’re just out there to destroy families, but forget that we just don’t turn up at random places. we are usually informed of things happening and have to take every information we receive seriously. It’s an extremely difficult and stressful job and a lot of people leave the field due the the emotional toll and work that is involved. I have been kicked, pushed in front of cars, threatened, punched etc during my role. This is just minor compared to what many have to face. And to also see regularly on social Media about how shit we are on a regular basis is just plane frustrating. If people do not want social workers in their lives then just engage with us and be good to your children put them first, love them, treat them how you’d wanna be treated, and we’ll eventually leave you alone. Okay I’m done now.
