Not sure if these began in the time of Covid19, but I do hope that the Frick and Xavier Salomon continue this series. There are so many items in the collection and Salomon and his team bring tremendous insight to all of us. Thank you.

I did not know the history of the wonderful peacock room, and this elegant room came alive in this talk as did the portrait of Mrs. Leyland. But that is what Salomon does so well; he brings life and history to art and brilliantly connects all sorts of various dots.

Another gem in this wonderful series. I'm enthralled not only by Xavier's erudite yet droll commentary but also by the production values that are apparent in each of these presentations. Kudos to everyone at The Frick Collection for the quality of these pieces!

Thank you so much for this series, a glimmer of light in the pandemic. I been fortunate to visit some of the great museums in Europe ( mostly Italy), but Cocktails with the Curator has made me realize that we have some outstanding museums in our country. I should consider a tour of great Museums here instead of my annual trip to Italy ( or maybe both ). Grazie ancora.

Again, we loved the episode. It is truly a highlight of our week. I can only imagine how much work went into the wonderful presentation. Too short! I would love more formal analysis of the paintings you are discussing. What makes this painting so beautiful? Nonetheless, a BIG thank you to Xavier and the Frick for doing this weekly presentation. Truly making the best out of the our plague times.

I believe that Whistler painted over antique leather wall covering in making the Peacock Room that was associated with a British king. He had not been given permission to do this. Another reason the relationship frayed.

I believe the other thing that Whistler did which annoyed Leyland during the renovation of the Peacock room was that he invited members of the press to come in and see it. The Leylands were away and had trusted him to make those relatively minor changes and in the meantime. He turned it into a publicity stunt for himself. I am sorry Whistler came between Mr. and Mrs. Leyland the way he did. Great artist but not a nice man.

Mrs. Layland is in here white dress seems to turn away and showing here profile and butterflyes is beautiful but jusually as the japanies are rather small and Mrs leyland seems to bee toll is may bee the selfportrai as artist selfporrait in japane as a pianist really grotesck.Anyway is alltogether art.
