Does it matter what type of vermiculite? Fine or coarse

Hey good video friend. May I give a friendly suggestion for higher yield and larger fruiting bodies it's best to use the masters mix for wood loving mushrooms. Thats hardwood fuel pellets, wheat bran and gypsum. Make sure the pellets are no additives or chemicals personally oak or cherry wood have worked well.
@brettharter14310 ай бұрын
Masters mix is 50/50 hardwood / soybean hulls, what on earth are you talking about?
@eviljoeblack10 ай бұрын
@@brettharter143there are multiple variations to the recipe, I was just suggesting the one that works best for me for specific wood lovers. Besides why are you gatekeeping the comments, mycology is an ever expanding study, nothing is set in stone. Except being really clean lol
@brettharter14310 ай бұрын
@@eviljoeblackits not gatekeeping. Master Mix is a defined recipe with defined results. Your just talking about supplemented hardwood sawdust mix, not masters mix...

Can I store this substrate or do I typically have to make it to use at the time of setting up a monotub?
@SicHeadshotzGaming8 ай бұрын
I guess the factor that matters is the moisture level, I am assuming if it is stored air tight like a mushroom bag it would hold up ok?
@ezmushroom8 ай бұрын
You could store it for a couple of days (some say up to a week but I personally wouldn't risk it) as long as its air tight.

@@SicHeadshotzGaming I just grew some mushrooms that shall not be named using a CVG bucket mix that was 8 months old. Didn't even rehydrate it. CVG is not nutritious for mold/whatever and the stuff stores fine as long as you dont repeatedly open the bucket for no reason.

does it have to pure gypsum or can you use the mixed ones from a garden supply that come more in a sand base?
@ezmushroom6 ай бұрын
Pure gypsum. Plenty of people go without it and swear it makes no difference though so you can also skip it

The Coco expands to 10L once the water is added.

@@ezmushroom cheers dude, pretty much followed it to the letter. Should be ready to mix this evening. All wrapped in foil wrap a four season sleeping bag, a duvet and a large weight on the top, hahaha proper overkill. 😎

@@LeonPhythian69sweet. How did it go?
@LeonPhythian692 ай бұрын
@bmoneybby Amazing, I've been using this method now on my last few tubs. There is a slight change because of tub size, but it works a treat so massive, thank you. Some savage flushes.
@chakraview75545 ай бұрын
Why do you have measurements for a dry ingredient in litres?! Why?😢
@mariofox83775 ай бұрын
Dry vermiculite and dry coco coir have to be equal 1:1 in volume If you use a brick of coco (600gr) eyeball the same volume of vermiculite then add your water. You can avoid vermiculite imo and use only coco coir and no gypsum tbh... Your first time don't over complicate it
@JorgeMartinez-bruy5 ай бұрын
1 litre can be used for dry ingredients as a volume measurement.
