Yes, the new coach is improving her drive technique; nonetheless it is of the utmost importance to refine the soft touch needed to execute proper slices and volleys. In this match she lost plenty of points because of unforced errors related to net plays that required finesse and subtlety. She is a force of nature, despite all the missplays she physically overpowered Karolina with cheer strength and potency, so imagine how much she can grow.

Actually her coach has said they are NOT doing anything differently with the forehand. The reason she's more consistent with it is because she isn't being nagged about it all the time, so she's hitting with less tension.

@@andrewthompson7707 Who knows how Coco will do at this year’s US open. 🎾🤞🏽 It is a bust for many players too during Grand Slams until they found their own way to victory (look at Sabalenka who finally won a GS in Australia). Every player has their journey and not everyone will get a Grand Slam quickly or some may get it too quickly before they have matured as a player then become a struggling player which can sometimes be because of injuries (see Sofia Kenin, Emma Raducanu, Sloane Stephens, etc). COCO will win a Grand Slam one day or at least she and her fans believe so 🙏🏽😀🎾🎾👍🏽

She's young but very experienced for her age. When I was listening Swiatek-Coco preview before semifinal, someone compared number of their matches in professional career, Swiatek had 320, Coco 250. Even though Coco is 3 years younger in terms of played games its more like 1 season difference. It means she already put huge effort in her development.

I agree. The media really overhyped her when she first appeared on the tennis scene. She was talented, for sure, but she still had a long way to develop and mature. Now with her run at Rolland Garros and this new Masters 1000 title, she’s starting to hit her stride and you really said it correctly when you mentioned that, from here on out, she’s definitely “in the conversation” for any major title if she continues to maintain and improve upon this high level. More players have to go to the net more often so as to put a different kind of pressure/stress on their opponents. I was suffering to see Muchova like this. She seemed to struggle a lot with the heat. She looked exhausted. Easy win for Coco. Edit: I never said Muchova had a disadvantage because of the heat. It had been hot the whole week in cincinnati. But not every day is the same. Tennis players are human you know. Also she has had physical issues all week from shoulder and abdominales to the thigh. So people please chill. She wasn't her 100% self and therefore could not play her best tennis. That was all, I was trying to say. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is so silly when people keep complaining that Coco is overhyped. Clearly, it is the media hyping her up as any media outlet will do for a young player. Also, Coco consistently qualifies for quarterfinals in Grand Slam. I will also never understand why people put so much pressure on young teenagers like Coco, Raducanu, etc. Tennis is a hard sport and everyone has their own journey to doing well and winning titles. Coco is only 19 and has accomplished so much compared to other players on the WTA tour.
