I just came from Kauai and had no idea that the old decrepit building I saw along the highway was this building used in Blue Hawaii. This was so interesting. Thank you so much for documenting this.

the architect who designed the property, Pete Wimberly, knew the value of fixing a sense of atmosphere to a location. That is what inspired him to use giant clam shells as wash basins in the bathrooms. It made people feel as if they had really gone to an exotic place

We stayed in the area about 6 years ago and became enamored with the story of Coco Palms. I check it out every few months in hope that something has moved forward. This was just a wonderful tour. Thank you so much Bob. Mahalo!

Thank you Scott. If you are interested I put out a two hour documentary of the Coco Palms last year. It was filmed prior to the partial demolition of the hotel. It is on eBay and is called The Coco Palms Then and Now. It includes my full tour and interviews and also old footage of the property and ceremonies. www.ebay.com/itm/164408581358

Thank you Bob for the tour. It must have been a beautiful place, so sad. Passed it many times from our stay there. We were in Kauai at the end of May beginning of June our third time there. Do you know if they plan on rebuilding Coco Palms ? Beautiful island, saw Larry Rivera live on the island perform. Thank you !

This is a really neat video. Coco Palms isn’t anywhere I’ve ever visited or was even aware of, but I find old hotels, motels, and resorts very interesting for some reasons. Maybe it has to do with knowing a certain space once provided some very happy and wonderful times for so many people. Thank you for sharing your video.

As others: I must thank you so much for this post! I was never really interested in this subject, since it was way before my time. Yet ironically, I learned about it a few years ago via, a South Park episode, called, "Going Native". (Sixteenth Season - episode 11) Even if you don't like South Park, or think it to be crude (which it IS), their parody of the whole Hawaiian life style is spot on and priceless. Anyway, The Coco Palms is featured in this episode, (along, with the ghost of Elvis!), so, after seeing that, I HAD to begin to look into this FACINATING place. One you do, you really get sucked into it. If only there was a way to help bring it back to it's rightful grandor, . . .

fascinating!!! Thank you for taking us along! I was able to see a little in the winter of 2020 before the shut down but was too nervous to go further than the shell building and lobby. Didn't know where I was going and didn't want to get in trouble!! :) Would love to take a tour with you next winter when I visit in 2022!

Hey Bob! LOVE this!! Are you still doing tours at the Coco Palms? I would love an in person tour! Hope to be on the island later this month or the beginning of August. I heard about the auction though and so I wasn’t sure if that would put an end to it and if you were still doing live tours now or not... 🙏🏻 Thank you!
