Ahh that's great - I'm sure you will enjoy it with the coconut as it's so delicious. I love lachchha pyaz, it always reminds me of restaurants in India where I can eat platefuls of just the onions 😀

@@imran.familykitchen yaa, in India raw onion and chillies are must to accompany a meal. Those pink Indian onion tastes so good luckily we can buy them here too.

In the Cape winelands, South Africa we have a gorgeous dish called 'swarbekboontjie bredie', pigeon peas with slow cooked stewed lamb. One eats it with a side of very British picalili as the crunchy curry pickled veg lift the earthy rich flavours, It reminds me of my mother, so I have a deep love for the earthy taste of pigeon peas. This is a wonderful variation on an ingredient I love so much.

You say it wrong....it's mbaazi not mbarazi. I will definitely try the recipe today because I boiled some mbaazi
@imran.familykitchen3 жыл бұрын
That's great you're making this recipe today. It was absolutely delicious and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I don't think we have said it wrong as my mum and her family have always called it barazi when she was growing up in Tanzania, but we know it is commonly known as mbaazi that's why we have used both names. Many people call it barazi, you will see it when you do a google search too, even my aunty in Tanzania calls it barazi too. Anyway you're right that it is more commonly called mbaazi and I'm sure we both agree it is super delicious when cooked in coconut milk. Have a lovely day and hope you enjoy this fabulous dish 😊

@@imran.familykitchenoh I didn't know that's how they call it in TZ. My apologies. Made it and enjoyed it with my friends yesterday. Shukran

Hi, can I use other milk if i lack the coconut one
@imran.familykitchen3 жыл бұрын
We haven't tried it with plain milk and I don't think it will work since this recipe is known for its distinctive coconut flavour. You could try using coconut powder if that is available and dissolving that in some water. Otherwise you could use just water to make the masala gravy (like other curries). It will be different to this recipe but it should still work.
