Most people are discrediting the tournament simply because of the format and organization. A tournament for this much money should never be single elimination, and if it were, it would need to have a 'best of 7' series in bracket play to make it more valid. Frankly unacceptable by the tournament organizers and not what is best for the fans or the esport. Plus, all the server issues and lack of fans onsite add to it slightly.

I think the largest frustration from fans about EWC is you had two teams finish in the top 4 that if the tournament was double elim probably wouldn’t have. Personally I don’t love single elim in COD where you get a stacked side of a roster, but it’s the cards that were dealt.

Hecz is 1000% correct. EWC brings questions to Champs. If you win champs but fall short at EWC, questions are asked such as “was Champs a flop?” Or “Did so and so have an easy run during champs?” Etc. Imagine the Super Bowl happening then they do another playoffs but shuffle the seedings and someone else wins the Super Bowl.
