Thanks for posting a helpful video. 1st attempt at cod fishing at chesil the coming weekend. Hoping to get one in the 3 days fishing. I'd like to find a reasonable spot nearer plymouth too for cheeky midweekers. Tried mount wise last night, lost A LOT of tackle. Thanks again. It's a big help for new people into fishing. Steve.

Great video. very difficult filming with lamps and headlights. My Pevensey video used a cheap but very powerful ANCHOR lamp which could light up the whole beach! I would love to make a beach cod video, but they are very rare here these days.

Great video well done lad! Some nice fish! What’s with the very short pulley rigs?? Is there a reason for it? Just out of curiosity.. 👍
@shorefishingfilms5 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the great comment, the reason for the short rigs is to keep the bait as close to the floor as possible, we found that when casting on 50 to 60 yards on a steep beach that any longer and you would get less bites, we now use an up and over rig so that the bait is presented tight on the floor, but the short rigs seem to do the same thing and they are simple to use and don’t tangle in waves, I hope that helps

Great Vid Kevin! Well done keep it up! Is it possible to catch cod at night from Chesil in mid august do you know? Because I went there with my dad in the summer and I caught scad, conger and dogfish along with some black bream during the day.
@shorefishingfilms8 жыл бұрын
Hi mid august is a bit early, late September is when they normally appear but this year is very slow, we could do with a good blow for a week to stir up the food

Great catches guys but could you please tell me where you get the live peelers in December as im goin down the road to chesil at weekend?ta guys.Dorset Dean
@shorefishingfilms7 жыл бұрын
+Dean de em hello glad you enjoyed the video, we get our from Plymouth, sw sea baits, plymouth angling are great places, but chesil beach fishing or weymouth angling maybe better if you are already up that way. Hope that helps let us know how you get on.

I have two video lights I use now. One is 64 leds an d can light up the beach, brightness is variable. AND a secondary with 24. LEDs both very bright, rechargeable camera batteries to power them.

Great video again! Just wondering what head torch you use?
@shorefishingfilms9 жыл бұрын
***** Hello Alex I use a Prinstontec 160 lumens but mine is now around 5 years old so the new ones are even brighter, they are a little more expensive but I haven't heard of anybody having any faults with them so they are nice and reliable, and also thanks again for the comments.

I used to fish the Dragon's teeth at Abbotsbury. There is a wreck about 80 to 100yds off the beach. Get it right, fishing is awesome. Winter time up by the cottages for quality Whiting. Stopped going there now due to vandals damaging anglers cars at night.
@shorefishingfilms7 жыл бұрын
+Derek Hopcroft Hello Derek yes I agree with the fishing but I have never had much luck up towards the teeth, we usually just head up to the cottages for an easy stroll, but I haven't had any issues with the car park so hopefully I haven't chanced my luck by saying that, tight lines Derek
@Noname-qk9or7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin. Very good video! But I was just wandering why you guys were using such short hooklengths because you only use short snoods for rough ground but Chesil isn' that snaggy is it?
@rossturner85816 жыл бұрын
I think the cars parked in the passing places on the track were the ones getting vandalised by the locals!
@barryrrab9 жыл бұрын
what weight can you keep them at?
@shorefishingfilms9 жыл бұрын
Barry Richards Hello Barry, there is a size limit on Cod caught from the shore in competitions and it is about 35cm but you would have to check for your area, most competitions are 35cm minimum, we always try to put everything back but that doesn't mean you can't take any for the pot if needed, hope this helps Barry.
@barryrrab9 жыл бұрын
yeah but at what weight is it worth keeping? 2 pounds? 3 pounds?
@shorefishingfilms9 жыл бұрын
I personally would not take anything under 3lb as you would struggle to get a worthwile fillet from something smaller
