Evening bite - this mostly what we get here in New Jersey USA fishing the surf, as well as a pre-dawn/first light bite. 40 years ago we used to get whiting in the winter (January/February), but now, with Global Warming, our water temperatures never get down to those desired by whiting and Tommy Cod. We are, indeed, seeing what used to be tropical fish here at night in the summer (Tarpon, Cobia, Sea Trout) and our Surf Striped Bass season is short, really only early spring (April/May) and late fall (November/December).

Another great video and some superb shots of the beautiful coastline and sun rise/sets... I am sorry to hear about the problems with your motor but its good to see your positivity and push on with your trip despite the setback... the world is full of so called "experts" who may criticise your casting but dont let them get to you.... thanks again and keep the faith! cheers Nick

Cracking vid mate. I started my fishing career sea boat fishing when I was ten with my uncle. Took a long break and started back shore and rock fishing. Then I went to Trout fishing and caught my first Salmon on the fly fishing the River Tay Two weeks ago. But after watching your vids , I’m gonna try rock fishing again up the north east of Scotland. Wish me luck.

Great Video, as far as egg beaters go Shimano are the best but over time you still have line wind up twists and it causes knotting or line twist. I still prefer overhead reels as you don't get line twist or line wind up. Yes overheads do get backlash if you haven't used them in a while but the muscle memory is still there and soon comes back. In Sydney Australia I used to be able to get around 150 metres in a single cast around Milsons Point fishing the harbour with a 13 ft, 7 wrap overhead rod and a abu 7000 reel loaded with 25 lb mono line running a number 2 snapper lead with a metre of 120 lb leader as I used to chase big mulloway on the beaches and in the harbour. Now I'm back in the UK in the midlands no saltwater any where near me.

Hi your rig choice have a few issues with! that pulley bead is shite it's like a fat arsed woman on a M bike with leg wide apart the bead breaks and when casting tends to spin as not very aero dynamic! if i use a pulley only use the Trident pulley beads as when clipped down is streamlined as lines kept in tight. and as you just found you loose fish as swivels/Tronix beads give no resistance to a taking fish so poor hook ups where as the Trident the line goes in and round top then back out other side so like a bit of figure 8 so fishes more like a paternoster so fish hits bait hooks home but then when under load it will slide weight up like pulley's do. Down there up n overs/Droppers work best i make my droppers not using the pulley bit but with either a trident clip or SRT clip/spring and snood swivel held down rig body by sliding crimp that way if need new hooks just snip off and retye and just adjust tension of snood always releases. Been making Bagnal bar type rigs but in 100lb mono so pulls on mono if get a bite unlike wire. just making some in a streamlined wishbones. Power Aeros Great reels ive them and Aero Techs on Braid PA half price of Aero Techs yet not half the reel! 30 grams in it but PA is stiffer body!. Other reels Fathom 12's fill right to edge tweaked and cast awesome use .30 mono.

That's a great way to fish Buck & thanks for your comment, as I always say its my way not the correct way. In the past I've used droppers, & haven't noticed any difference, actually when the tide isn't running I find it tangles up. I am lucky to be out coaching on the beach maybe 4 days a week, I've not lost many but appreciate your comments. Unfortunately I've had trident tackle go on the cast, along with a few mates of mine.

Back in the 2000s when dungeness had its amazing cod run years and we used pulleys, we missed a lot of bites, never a big fan of pulley rigs but that's another story... Anyways, I agree with Buck about the resistance and a little trick I picked upon was to use some telephone wire or a light power gum stop knot at the lead side of the pulley, just after the pulley turning the rig into a rudimentary 'patonoster'... When u get a bigger fish come along the power gum/phone wire slips allowing the pulley system to work after you have set the hook. As you say, you trust your rig and you don't lose many fish so keep with what you know, but if your confidence drops give it a try. Great videos!

@@TheShoreHunter What trident parts you go? did have once the termi link unclip but saw it before cast as backwash causes links to swivel/swirl round on self but also had gemini links fail and splashdowns loose leads so nothing is immune! Newer termi links take thicker line and crimped link in a bit but if loose anything squeeze at bottom bend a bit sorted. My up n overs with srt spring/clip work well don't tangle as swivel swings freely but whiting and dogs soon turn a perfectly good rig into a ball of knitting!

May I just ask. Don't to much light, put off the fishing. I know a couple of beaches, that too much light, spooks the fish.
