Cod having an improved engine is a step in the right direction and I can't wait to see how they try to improve it each year. But all in all, Battlefield frostbite engine is still strong. Also, I'm getting sick of the "muh destruction" arguments, Cod does not need destructible environments. These games have completely different gameplay styles besides shooting with guns.

Battlefield 5 is a gorgeous game full of the level of detail you'd expect from the BF franchise. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for its flaws. It's steadily improving, and its quite fun to play now. Most of the bugs are gone, with only minor animation glitches and some texture blurring and pop-ins here and there. More content is being added steadily as time goes on, and they've even abandoned pointless stuff to focus on fixing the core game. That being said, CoD MW is in its own league, as is BF5. In terms of comparing the new MW to older titles, it's leaps and bounds ahead. On the topic of destruction or interacting with your environment, I believe it's something the developers have intentionally stayed away from in the CoD franchise. Battlefield is always about the pure chaos and destruction. It's meant to be a cinematic and enjoyable multiplayer experience over a competitive shooter. CoD focuses on raw infantry gameplay and does it superbly. Battlefield's selling point has always been the expansive maps and mixed pace gameplay, whereas CoD is all about intense action that keeps you in the fight and makes it easier to get into one. Each game has their own niche, and this year they've actively been trying to copy and put their own spin on each other's strong points. Battlefield has the Squad Conquest game mode where Call of Duty has Ground War. I'd say the competition between the two will benefit the playerbase as a whole, though it's worrying in a sense that each game might start abandoning their roots to get in on a piece of the other's pie. Time will tell, but I do think MW will be a day one purchase for myself! I'm looking forward to it!

@@KaiserDaChoom - Indeed, Dice LA is picking up the slack for the Stockholm branch. Essentially, Dice lost all of its best, most experienced developers due to how horrible of a mess the upper management team was making out of things, not just BF5, but the studio too. It was, and probably still is surviving off of contracted in employees. Another big reason why they lost so many devs is that they're forced to use the Frostbite engine. While the engine is capable of some awesome stuff, it's extremely difficult to work on and has a total lack of convenience. It's actually quite dated by now as well. All of this comes from ex Dice employees who wrote reviews of the company. It's a really deep rabbit hole, but it totally opens up your eyes as to why they were doing so poorly for a while there. One of the ex devs even stated that even making a simple copy and paste in the Frostbite engine is a drawn out process. I'm sure they're on the right track now. The end of 2019 has basically been every gaming company realizing that we won't stand for their marketing BS anymore.

The cod game is somewhat an improvement in cod and the graphics are respectable, but in no way does it come close to competing the the battlefield franchise. Sure it’s probably a game mode so it’s not like the whole game is based on 32vs32, but judging from what I played and see, it can’t really be labeled as a battlefield competitor, but more of a different game in its one way. But yeah, comparing at the base, it’s 32vs 32 model vs battlefield, it is no where near the unique gameplay bf offers. Battlefield 3 in 2011 visually looks a lot better, and it is way more different and enjoyable.

For me personally, I like battlefield for its graphics and attention to detail But cod for its story and gameplay, not the little stuff like hanging off walls in bfv but the fun of the fast paced running and gunning with air strikes and nukes. I do like both games though

Both are still different in style. CoD has always been an arcade-like experience, so the destruction physics and environments like the flooded tunnel you showed aren't all that needed. Where MW4 does shine though, are the campaign's graphics, cause holy mother of Jesus the characters look so damn good in the cutscenes and even in-game.
