I love how from BO4 onwards the Ray Gun sounds so much weaker, but visually has more kick. Especially in Vanguard.

God yeah, they're awful. The Ray Gun and Wunderwaffe sound terrible. It's like they've lost their whole uniqueness

The Vanguard ray gun making the screen shake with every shot is just horrible. Then they remove the recoil from the thundergun. Just...why?

imo, waw-bo1 is the best ray gun to use on most maps but for nostalgia purpose still a keep, bo2-bo3 had the best kick sounds as it feels like it your embracing the ray echos and kicks (but not used cus lack of phd (except origins, grief mob and perma phd buried)), bo4-vanguard, the sound just lost its echo kick which doesnt feel satisficing (but still usable in bocw high rounds as its a must have)

The Vanguard Ray Gun is also worthless, the Becker shotgun is the real Wonder Weapon.
