Thank you guys for not only the humor, but the look into deaf culture that both your videos and comments bring. I had been interested in knowing more about ASL for a long time. Perhaps since I still remember a few signs from PBS - teach the chimp CoCo ASL. Wife & I just started ASL classes and the humor along with being able to recognize, perhaps 1 in 50 signs is a real treat. Were hoping to use a little ASL w/the GKids. Amazing how 18 mo old GSon picked up 'more' immediately! 1st try!!

totally!!! lol when I swore as a child, and my Mom turned and gave me the look....!!!! I was like what the...?!?! here is somethin for ya.. can they hear or are they just psychic.. OOoooOOoooOOo! you two are just pure entertainment.. thanks for makin me feel like a normal coda ;)

I am a deaf coda of a coda(meaning I'm a second generation coda). The deaf parents or grandparents don't hear , they lipread with the eyes on the back of their head. I once sassed off to my deaf grandmother, whom did not sign, behind her back and she turned to me and said don't you sass back at me. After that I never sassed back cuz I knew those eyes on the back of her head were watching me. lLOL

*grins* I had a similar experience when I was a kid. I didn't believe my mom when she told me she couldn't hear so I decided to give her a test: I screamed as loud as I possibly could and asked her if she could hear me. That annoyed her really, really quickly. Excellent video!

about 2 weeks later i came home after work and the kids came to me and said mom, we belive you now, i said, what are you taling about? they sad that for 2 weeks they had been "testing" me, my daughter even said she stood behind me screaming as loud as she could untill she was light headed lol

omg hahahaha the effenheimer, that's awesome! I'm not a coda but I know plenty of kodas, and they are forever testing their parents' hearing with snide comments and expletives. but i'm not one of those evil hearing snitches -- i just giggle and let 'em at it. cuz it's hilarious. :-)

Oops, my mistake. They were not CODA. Both of them had deaf mothers.

It doesn't matter - just one parent has to be Deaf for you to 'qualify'.

hah im a deaf parent my kids are codas, one day they sat me down and said mom we want to ask you something, are you really deaf? and i said of corse i am why woiold i lie about being deaf? they said so you can catch us doing bad things, so i assured them that i am infact deaf and that was that (or so i thought) )

I'm not an expert, but it makes sense that there are additional developmental issues for a coda w/o any hearing parental figure, although you're probably technically correct.

@AracelliLovee it did same things with me! But I become deaf when I was 2 1/2 and they thought i was ignore them so they made lot noisy then they believe i turned deaf.

oh my gosh! thanks for this video. im a coda. and i used to think that my parents could hear. and when i turn 18 or something they will be like "this is everything bad that you said through the years" or something. lol sometimes i still do...

I don't know about CODA. I don't even know why you thought your parents lied to you. I don't see what's wrong with being deaf. Is that your Freudian slips? Gosh, you cursed with bad words. Wow. Edward Gallaudet, a son of Thomas Gallaudet and was the 2nd president of Gallaudet College, and AG Bell both were CODA. Edward supported eugenic society when he just answered. I still don't understand CODA. I don't mean to get wrong idea. I'm just trying to understand.
