No your 100% correct we believe it will fail too. We was allowed to turn some lead into the channel. But the welt had to be cut short as their wasn’t enough room apparently for the welt and glass. We had to write a letter to the builder to cover ourselves as we were only doing what the builder had instructed.

Lovely job. But you started out telling us you couldn't turn the lead down in the Channel because the glass wouldn't fit. Then turned all the lead down in the channel. Did they change their mind. Very interesting to see how you do the front drip. I have done a lot of lead work. And watched others doing more. Fascinating to learn the tips and tricks from a professional. I was merely an amateur.
@slbleadworks

Thank you. I wondering if anyone would pick up on that lol😂. Yes when I started the job the builder said he didn’t want the lead turned down into the channel as the glass wouldn’t fit. I later had another chat with him and we agreed I could turn the lead down as long as the welt doesn’t go in. I’m glad I managed to show how I turn the front drip edge down. I’ve had people asking to see this.

@@slbleadworks I know the struggle.. I spend all day every day cutting sections out of metal sheet - it gets to be a right pita when it's "Oh ffs... not another 3 foot bloomin cut......." - roller blade cutters work great, work fast & you stop dreading them long awkward cuts. Just my own experience. :-) I cut 1mm steel sheet, you cut lead - different game, same demands.

Hi Stu, why do you out ply wood, can't you just put the lead on top of the brick/cement work?
@slbleadworks
@slbleadworks Жыл бұрын
The ply makes life so much easier and the lead picks up any imperfections from the surface it’s laid on. So bricks really wouldn’t be the nicest finish. We do lay straight onto stone sometimes. And it’s very important to use builder paper.

@@mbk8488 Not surprised you was there for 3 months. That shelf goes on forever. It’s a lovely house but with all the rain it’s such a muddy site. I’m working off a scaffold tower spending more time moving it and making it level than anything else.
