If you are new to Salome-Meca, you probably never heard about Astk...
This is the way to run the command file and link all other files together before Aster Study.
It still works! And sometimes, it is even more convenient than Aster Study to use, so I decided to make this video to explain!
Let me know if it helps!

thank you for this tutorial. It helped me a lot ! I had really looked for how to use ASTK to run some simple studies I did. Thanks !

Thanks for all your videos I found them very useful and helpful, I just have one question, I'm looking for a way to split my study. In a way that for example running a model up to 600 degrees, then save it and for the further stages (with for example different AFFE_MATERIAU) recall it and continue the study. For this my only solution is the command POURSUIT in ASTK? I really appreciate your time and your help.

Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. Could I ask you some questions about how to download the files to use in the code_aster? If I can get some original document file in the website of Code_Aster? Thank you very much.

Thank you for that video! Do you have any experience configuring a new server via Configuration>Servers? I'm trying to do it to execute a study to a remote computer but I can't... Thank you very much.

Thank you for the tutorial, really helpfull! A question if i may, is it possible through ASTK to run geometrically complex models?
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 5 жыл бұрын
Of course... you can run anything if you are able to write your model it into a compatible mesh format (MED for exemple)

I have made a study of static analysis with 3 time setps in salome-meca and run correctly. Then I exported the mesh file and the comm file. I want to use those file in astk, but it would arise a warning: pas de champs pour l'accès INST de valeur 1 Opening the *.rmed file, there was only the first INST results. What's wrong whit it? Thank you very much!

The med file should be the input mesh, not the rmed (this is the result file). Haven’t you by any chance mixed them up? I have a video showing how to use astk, have you watched it?

@@Feaforall Thank you very much! I use a astk14.6 which is a different version with the salome-meca2019. In the begnning, I cannot run the astk in salome-meca(an error said cannot found xterm ?). This problem occured when I downloaded a new version of codeaster(v14.6). Finally I reinstalled the salome-meca, and it's astk run correctly. I have met all kinds of strange problems... Thank you again!

It doesn’t surprise me... open source software are always a bit clunky. I guess that’s the price to pay for it to be free!

Hello everybody, Can anyone tell me how to launch ASTK on the windows version of Code_Aster? It won't work through Salome-Meca as well. In tools/plugins, there's only the "Salome Shell session" tab. "Run astk" is nowhere to be found. Thank you for your help. Kindest regards,
@Feaforall

Astk is not into the Windows version of Salome meca unfortunately, not sure that you have some way around that unfortunately... you can maybe try to install it through the windows Ubuntu sub-shell ... however it will be difficult to get back the graphical interface that way

@@Feaforall Thank you Cyprien for answering so fast. I decided to install Ubuntu on a VirtualBox. Your tutorial came in handy btw, thank you very much. In parallel, I'd like to give the windows version of Code_Aster a chance too and was given a link to a launcher on windows after contacting the Windows Code_Aster support. But it doesn't reimplement ASTK's functionalities. It needs an Export file while ASTK produces it (don't see the point of a launcher without this functionnality to be honest). One has to create an export file on their own. Thought you might wanna know. Again, many thanks for your amazing tutorials !

Thank you for that video. I've just download Salome-meca 2017 for windows and astk and other plugin tool doesn't seem to be there. I'm trying to find a convenient way to run aster without aster study on windows. Do you have an idea ?
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincent, yes, indeed. The windows version isn't officially supported by EDF and it doesn't include Astk... Unfortunately, now on windows, aster study seems to be the only way to run Code_aster. So you have 2 possibilities... 1) you run with aster study, but you turn the case study into text mode and you will have the ability to run code_aster from the command file from inside Aster study 2) Install linux...

Thank you for the reply. I have been using Aster for a while on linux. I tried your first way westerday but there is a thing that make me unhappy with it : We don't have the interactive follow-up when running an analisys. This is really helpfull to see early in a non-linear simulation if everything is going well and how much time will take the simulation. EDF seems to be aware of this problem (www.code-aster.org/forum2/viewtopic.php?id=22901) and work around are posted on the forum. I will try to make it work on windows but I'm not really confident on this one... I think I'll have to stay on linux. Have a great day

Is it possible to run a comm file interactively on a python console?
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 4 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, not yet, because the program reading the comm called supervisor is partially based on python but not totally. The new supervisor will probably be full python and support interactive console, but I don’t think it’s there yet... check the dev version for the new features.
