This was honestly an amazing episode. It's not because the gimmick of it was genius, because it honestly was, but the real shining point of this episode was that we finally got a clue about X.A.N.A's personality. You could argue the fake Yumi from God knows how many episodes ago could count, but she really just seemed like an unfinished clone. This right here was the REAL X.A.N.A, a being the kids haven't physically seen but know of. The actions and issues that X.A.N.A can do are nothing short of devastating, but this--right here, where he confronts the four kids in his alternate realm, pretending to be Jeremie with his own added quirks like how he basically has control of the school, the students and Jim working under his rule, even attempting to convince Jeremie's friends that he's the real one and almost KILLS them, honestly that moment was absolutely terrifying. Up until now we've never been able to experience what X.A.N.A acts or sounds like, how he thinks or why. Now we know: He's a megalomaniac, he believes himself to be perfect and above all others, and he's doing it all because either he's so self aware that he believes that he deserves to rule, or because that's what he was programmed to do. But you know what the most incredible thing about this episode was? The kids DEFIED X.A.N.A's expectations. Keep in mind, X.A.N.A was a war program utilized in the Cold War to fuck with the Soviet Union, and given all of the atrocities he's almost committed, he's probably one of the most powerful computer programs in existence. X.A.N.A had all of the numbers on his side, he planned every single action, and all the numbers backed him up--he thought he could be able to convince Jeremie's friends to betray him and believe that he was him. But the kids knew otherwise--because they knew something that numbers, algorithms, programs, and equations could never do: they knew Jeremie. They knew his personality, and they knew how much he had grown and how much he cares about them and loves them. That was something that X.A.N.A could never understand because all of the data he had pointed in the direction that they would betray Jeremie. X.A.N.A flipped out and acted so uncharacteristically psychopathic because the kids defied him--they defied *perfection*, which he sees himself to be given his personality and his actions. This episode was just such a showing of growth and progression. It showed how deep Jeremie's bond with his friends were, it showed how much X.A.N.A learned about the real world as well as the personalities of Jeremie's friends, it showed how X.A.N.A perceived knowledge and how he acts if given a voice, but most importantly--this episode showed that beating X.A.N.A was not only possible, it was within sight. Defying logic the way these kids did against an all knowing rampant supercomputer like X.A.N.A is an astronomical feat. It shows that there's nothing that these kids can't do. It's just an amazing episode, and to this day it's one of my favorites out of the whole series. Bravo, guys.

Tonight I dunno though, even later on when he has Aelita at the controls and trains the Lyoko warriors in a crash course he doesn’t really go again except one more time that I remember. Technically XANA did succeed in destroying the school. Odd and the two news girls nearly died because the building was falling apart around them. Only a return to the past restored the building. If Jeremy didn't launch the return trip Kadic would have had to close down for a year or more to make repairs. Also it wasn't magic he used to try and send Kadic into orbit. It was electricity. This is actually quite possible as well. A big enough charge can disrupt the Earth's gravitational force.

One thing that kept bothering me and a bunch of others was how Xana would aways go after Yumi a lot in later seasons. I believe this episode right here shows why I mean think about it. Yumi was the first person to notice the strange phenomena of the people going on repeat at the weirdest times while Ulrich and Odd didn't think much about it. She was the one to suggest going to the factory but without letting Jeremy know because she knew something was a miss about him. Then before the real Jeremy showed up to confirm Yumi's suspicions, Xana Jeremy tried to get all three of them into the scanners to try and get rid of his biggest threats once and for all. If it wasn't for Yumi's questions, her intuitiveness, and her defiance towards Xana Jeremy he would have finally won because Jeremy would not have made it in time to warn them. So I believe this episode right here is why Xana would always go after Yumi because if it was not for her his plan would have worked because Jeremy and Aelita would have been minutes maybe seconds too late to save them. TLDR thank you, Yumi for being awesome.
@smashmaster5214 жыл бұрын
XANA: Well, yes, but I also go after Yumi because she's the oldest, lives off-campus, and because it's Pick On Yumi Week. Every week is Pick On Yumi Week.
@aggerktm4 жыл бұрын
i agree, few people mention it but they were lucky Yumi isnt as braindead as Ulrich & Odd. had she behaved the same way as them they wouldve jumped into the scanners w/o asking questions and wouldve been eliminated (even though fake Jeremy behaviour and that Lyoko deletion bullshit were already suspicious as fuck from miles away, Ulrich & Odd are just too stupid to give it any thought). Yumi's intelligence and her suspiciousness about many of the things that were happening ultimately saved them all

@0dragonman5 жыл бұрын
@@seg162 I don't think that's what he meant. he means that she doesn't have any weapons to fight with, all she can do is make obstacles to block enemy fire or make new path ways to reach her goal and doing that *CLEARLY* requires concentration to do such a thing thus she always needs someone protecting her when she makes obstacles. So for her to run into combat like that is highly risky at best, so Mr Naesme is right to say that, however someone else has a point...if she were to have stayed there she would of been a easy target and from what I saw of the battle field before the episode came to a end there were no places for her to hide and making obstacles would take time, time she doesn't have since there were a army of cubes and only three warriors. The odds are against them and tactically speaking running around would make her a harder target and possibly make the cubes shoot each other while they are trying to shoot her would help thin the enemy numbers in the warriors favor...however doing that tactic is risky for Aelita because if she messes up too much she will be deterulized and gone forever unlike Odd, Yumi and Ulritch but hey...sometimes in combat ya gotta take some gambles and hope it works out lol

@Arvensa8 ай бұрын
@@RenlinkMorales I get the feeling that when I watched the show when I was younger, I still had more of an idea of what that slang meant for sure. Spitballing right now, the first two things that came to mind are: 1. (The one that I have an inkling of being the intended slang of the time, after reflecting in the time it took me to write out this comment:) It could be a reference to the competence and capability of "Double-0" agents like James Bond (Agent 007), which were very well-known in popular culture and another IP revolving around characters that often take on 'secret identities' and perform combat when necessary. They are such highly-trained professionals that you can guarantee their success without doubt. (a line in the show's promotional materials/early reviews I've read posits that the intrigue of 'secret identities' will grab a child audience's attention while the charming characterization is there for all ages) 2. the concept of significant figures. When you just say an integer like "5" that's a very low amount of precision, but if you specify "5.0" that indicates that the 5 is definite, while the decimal is the approximation-- i.e. the calculated value was something between 4.95 and 5.04 but it has been rounded to 5.0 to account for the potential error in the measurements used for the inputs of the calculation. So going even further to "5.00" would indicate an even higher level of precision and certainty.

This episode is unique for many reasons: -It's the one who recycles the least amount of images of the whole season and who, on the contrary, uses a lot of them which will never be seen again; -It includes musical tracks covering eight good minutes out of twenty-two with an unusually dark atmosphere, also original and never used; -It is placed (and it is certainly not by chance) just before Code Earth, so just before the completion of season 1 and the episode which could simply have ended the series without False Start; -It marks the one and only official appearance of XANA (see his thoughts and the real Jeremie who recognizes him), the XANA of season 1, which has for only option and for only weapon the blind and sadistic murder, under the form of Jeremie in order to preserve forever it’s immaterial and faceless character; never again will we have that, the closest will be William who is not at all XANA but serves and understands him; -This is, by far, the least light episode of the whole season (only humorous moments before and after the creation of the Ghost Channel, if we except the spade of Jeremie to the false Jim; even the traditional gag of Sissi is transformed into an element serving the plot) -Jérémie is coming to Lyoko for the first time in the order in which the episodes are broadcast. The only two others are the prequel (created several years later, and where he only mentions that he "will be scanned"), and episode 31, Mister Pück - where we don't see him at all; but as for XANA, we don't show our other face, we keep its real appearance in order to keep the character as it is; -Directly, in front of them, the program announces to the four heroes: "YOU ARE GOING TO DIE". Go put it in context! Even if it has faults, of course, Ghost Channel is just a monument, apart from in all Code Lyoko.

@@flainfan Yes that was X.A.N.A., that Ulrich clone was X.A.N.A. because why it can interact and have a form in this episode is because it's in a digital world, I mean the presence in Lyoko is X.A.N.A. and William able to direct them to the Tower is how it can show up, it's basically a representation over on a side we can't see because we're in the real world, not the digital.

Easily one of the best episodes in the series. It showcases the very elements that make this one of the favorite cartoons ever. And that's the emotion of fear and the development of Jeremy. One thing I always like to do is put myself in the situation of these characters. And Jesus christ, I'd be scared shitless to be any of the main characters in this episode. Jeremy facing his fears to enter the fake reality, where he was instantly spotted and being watched by Xana is frightening because he could've gotten killed on the spot. And Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi finding out that everything around them is a lie and all a setup for death, I'm surprised didn't scar them for life. I swear, this series has an excellent suspenseful storyline. Surprised that it isn't given as much credit as it should.
@TheFacelessStoryMaker5 жыл бұрын
XANA should know humans can be illogical. He doesnt expect the unexpected. He thinks four moves ahead but leaves the king unguarded. This episode was extremely dark with the XANA Jeremy declaring their death. When people say Code Lyoko is only deactivating a tower all the time I think of episodes like this and Marabounta. And one major giveaway of Jeremy is no emotion in his voice (like a machine) and the fact sometimes pauses in between words like a machine might.

Definitely one of the best and most memorable episodes. It’s really interesting to finally hear some of Xana’s thinking. It’s also really interesting that he was able to create a world that was able to fool the others for awhile at least, but still doesn’t really understand personality’s, emotions and the actual people themselves. I also really liked seeing how Aelita and Jeremy solved it. Jeremy I think sometimes gets flack from people thinking he doesn’t do enough, but he’s totally willing and puts his life on the line all the time for his friends. It’s just his role is the commander because he’s the only one really good at using the supercomputer. Honestly the real world is actually more dangerous anyway generally because on Lyoko you really only die if you fall in the digital sea generally. That his friends believed he would come instantly shows they recognize his importance too, as Odd was really only just being cocky in the beginning.

Man I gotta agree with Yzarro though, my mom growing up corrected a teacher and she called my grandmother to have a meeting with her about it. @phillipmarsh11976 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, I think it just comes down to how idiotic each individual teacher is. For the most part I've had good teachers and maintained a good standing with them, so I never imagined this happening to me and never saw it happen to someone else. All that said, either situation could happen anywhere in the world. We shouldn't say "That would happen because it takes place in (insert country here)" because stereotypes like that are closed minded and only apply to a small section of people in a group.
