As someone with several chronic illnesses I find it so refreshing how this song doesn't try to be a positive song about getting better. It's a song to scream to on the days the pain gets so bad I want to chop my limbs off. Just cause it gets better doesn't mean it's not horrendous right now. We should be allowed to be angry about our situations cause these situations can ruin so much of our lives. Some days are good some days are bad. You can't just pretend the bad days don't exist to begin with.

As a psychologist who lives with autoimmune disease, I full-heartedly agree with you. The thing people don’t comprehend is that life is complex & in a constant of change. Our brains also have this tendency to place everything into dichotomous categories, which actually isn’t the way the world really works. We tend to define things as “black/white,” “good/bad,” “sweet/salty,” but there is tons of grey area in life. Dichotomies are an oversimplification. Living with something like chronic illness involves learning to accept the ups & downs but also understanding that things aren’t necessarily “all good” or “all bad.” Trying to live up to an unrealistic idea to “stay positive” 100% of the time is not realistic for anyone, much less someone with chronic illness. Being a positive person doesn’t mean you don’t have bad days when you simply can’t have positive thoughts. Unrealistic expectations actually do more harm by sending us deeper into our depression & causing us to beat ourselves up & feel inadequate because we can’t always be positive & be “happy.”
@aracelylopezpsyd57947 ай бұрын
What will be most helpful is to learn to not get “stuck” in those low points. One way we achieve this is to grant ourselves grace when we have the bad days & bad thoughts; they WILL happen sometimes, & they are particularly normal for certain situations. The key to getting through bad days in a healthy manner is to NOT fight with ourselves, NOT try to make those things go away, but to instead learn acceptance of what is happening & just “observe” & acknowledge our experience. We do this by not judging the thoughts or feelings we have, remembering the ever-changing state of things (meaning, they won’t last forever), & validating ourselves - whatever we’re feeling in that moment, it’s okay & it makes sense for what we’re going through. It can also help to learn that ALL emotions exist for a reason, they’re neither “good” or “bad.” Emotions serve a function for our survival. The problem is sometimes we go through experiences that make us more sensitive to certain emotions. While there may be some emotions that are more “sensitive,” they still have a function so understanding why they’re happening in the first place will be more helpful in overcoming low moments than just trying force them away. Anger, for example, can get a bad rap, but sometimes it can be very good for us because it can motivate us to act on things necessary for survival, for self-protection, for advocacy, etc.

I think a lot of people with chronic physical pain and a predisposition to poor mental health know this pain. I FELT this song from my most painful memories. All those times laying on the floor because i physically couldn't get my legs to push me high enought to sit or lay on my bed, and all the times I layed on the bathroom floor tiles to ease the heat from my pain caused panic attacks are what I thought of. Its so frustrating that that agony is not taken seriously by doctors or is seen as just a thing you gotta deal with. Corpse, we are with you, but it seem you already know that your pain is your curse and we cant help beyond understanding that. Sorry man❤

I don't have any chronic pain issues, but I _do_ know the struggle of mental health issues. That's why I legitimately take medication and go to therapy:because of the chronic depression, the high anxiety, the stress, the bad thoughts of hurting myself or others, the self-esteem issues, the self-doubt issues, the insecurity issues...It's just all a _fucking mess,_ man. I try my best to take my medication as prescribed and do the mental exercises and whatnot that my therapist suggests, but sometimes, especially on some especially depressing and gloomy days, _it's just not enough._ It's like my mind _hates_ me, it's like my mind is _the Devil himself,_ and is trying to _actively damage my life._ I truly, _truly_ hope that life can get better for me, but...I'm not all that hopeful, to be honest.

I have had stress induced seizures for the past 4 years, started out of nowhere, and it crushed me a lot before that my mother had died to suicide and a custody battle broke out over me and my brother, where I was very badly verbally abused by my fucking narcissistic grandmother and my mental health fell so much! Then, the seizures, then covid, my great grandparents died, our dog got put down, my grandma died to cancer after being a 7 year lung cancer survivor. And the other day, my grandfather was badly injured in a car accident a few months ago and had recently died as well. Soooooooo, in short! I'm probably really messed up 🫤

anyone who likes this music has deeper mental health issues. Its really not normal
@Unnecessarilylongexplanations Жыл бұрын
@@XX-fp8bp Think that's the point, we all can sympathize with these feelings of both the physical pain caused by disability, and the pain of being stuck with mental health issues and constantly working through those things, sometimes you just gotta let loose like with these songs, release and put that pain into words. Bottling it up is never good.

Corpse, this is the first time a heavy song like this has brought me to tears. There is such a strong emotion behind these lyrics and the animation and I cant put into words how hard this hits. I hope you are okay, I hope things get better and I hope you never forget that no matter how bad things are that without the darkness you could never see the beauty of the stars.

I thought I had commented on this, but I guess I hadn't! I've been waiting for this collab ever since I found CORPSE a year or two ago, and I have not been disappointed! As an adult with a lot of chronic illness and the constant uphill battle that is ADHD...I feel this. So many pills, so many days that are hard to get through - but thankfully people like us have you making dope music for us! Thanks for all you do - and excellent work to everyone who worked on this project!

I can't even put into words how fucking SICK this is!! I've been a BMTH fan for years and followed Corpse for just as long, I've hoped for Corpse to do something as metal as this since 'Never Satisfied' (100% still my fav song of him). Whenever I'd listen to any song that combines low vocals with screams, I'd think of how cool it'd be to have Corpse collab with a big band one day. And now here it is, EXACTLY as good as I hoped! Absolutely LOVE the first part, Corpse screams will always get me and ofc Oli is a beast as always vocally. I can't believe how well their voices fit together and seriously, Corpse sounds SO GOOD I am in awe! (also the video is INSANE holy shit!!!!!!!)
