Made a mix-up when testing weapons. Ideally this would be better with Jack's sword, Executioner. It looks almost identical to the Black Blade and I mixed them up but Executioner has the same swing speed as Argent Wolf while being stronger. Alternatively if you want a more elemental damage focus Iceblood is another great weapon to go with.

I think if you go for all the elemental buffs you can use by swapping out gift extension and the 1h sword skill the damage gets even more insane.

Edit: I haven't had the chance to test this much outside of the early game up till the Cathedral so I'm mainly just suggesting this as something to look into if you haven't before. You're missing out on the big benefit of Opportunist. Opportunist gives a 25% damage increase on anything thats suffering a status effect. Just slap venom on your Iceblood and swap out the Tirelessness passive for the Opportunist passive and while you do slightly less generally for not using fortification, you will get another 25% damage on bosses as well as the large amount of damage venom does too. If you want some numbers for reference, on the dummy enemy in the training area map, while buffed I hit 5316 with fortification, 5132 with venom and no status procced, and 6415 per hit once the venom procced. Might not be worth it for NG but once you hit NG+ and even the early bosses have almost 100k hp it makes it very worth it.

Just did a dex halbert build with Queenslayer, using fortify argent pole axe, with all the damage buff(adreneline, bridge to glory, overdrive, element buff and final journey), u can hit for 5.8k per swing, and chariot rush into shadow assault deal about 41k damage. This is without communal gift buff.

Dont get too high level, coz each area kinda have their level cap. I stop at lv40-50 and farm Ashen Cavern, from the start to end, took 2 runs to master each skills(basically just slot whatever you want to level and they should all be complete in 2 runs, note that tier 3 gifts will need 3-3.5 run). Compare to other maps I think that is quite easy and efficient, and they drop tons of haze also, you can level a lot later on. If you're at end game, try not to go over 120, you can farm the government map as well, good weapons drops and haze. If you're lazy, farm depths and max them out with materials.

It seems as though if you don't have Gift Extension it strains the build. For those who don't have S. Pass what would you (or any who reads this) recommend?

- If you want to spam your "Circulating Pulse" (combo attack) then you can use "Gift Prowess" (Harmonia) which will really make CP much much faster. Usually mobs will dodge 4rd /5th hit in that combo, becuase they just move away or poor tracking. With GP, you will usually hit all 5 attacks in that combo even during small stagger on boss + you are quite safe to dodge afterwards. - If you don't care about faster combo attack, then you can use secomdn combo attack "Phantom Assault" (Prometheus) as a short cap closer + some iFrames. - If you are type who don't give a dam about using combo skills, just use another buffs like "Somatic Zeal" (+str & dex), or basically any dodge skill (which are quite nice). basic dodge skill is exaclty same as quick dodge and save your stamina (cost 1 mana, but it is back after 1 autoattack) --> This I kind of learned from one Chinese guy here on youtube who: beat all bosses without taking damage... solo... with level 1 char... on NG+6... YES, he beat game 6 times without leveling to do this compilation. And you will be quite surprise how it can be done even without Final Journey (No Queenslayer) with one hand sword :)

Ah there is my build. glad you finally showcase it. don't understand why you're not using the iceblood since it can be fortified, is faster and does more dmg (sounds dumb, but tested it 100 times...Icceblood=best dmg)

For me, I use the same sword, mostly because the swing arcs come out faster than Iceblood. The Wolf Sword is a slightly lighter version of Jack's Executioner. Also, not being tied to an Elemental damage type has it's own set of advantages.

@@swingtity9798 I did some additional testing on it, Iceblood is in fact slower (400ms for a 4-hit combo) but has more damage. Basic gist is as long as Bridge to Glory is up and the target isn't Ice resistant, Iceblood wins, without Bridge or against ice resistant targets, Argent is better.

@@stefanfr13 Blood Code: Demeter Weapons: Warped Blade & Nagimukuro. Don't transform them. Fortification makes them too heavy and the other ones hurt the stats too much. Blood Veil: Noble Silver or color variants (I use Noble Shadow, myself). Again, don't transform it. Passive Gifts: Two-handed Sword Mastery; Strength/Dexterity Up (this ups your physical damage while also getting you the minimum requirement for Hasten); Swift Destruction; Tirelesness. Active Gifts (Arrange these how you feel): Adrenaline; Bride to Glory; Hasten (this is what's getting you to quick mobility; very important); Skill Gift (I have Dragon Rush here; will probably swap to Legion Punisher when I get it); then all the Barrage spells. If you have it; you can swap one of the Barrages for Gift Extension then adjust things depending on enemy resistance. The idea is to buff up and attack with your weapon, then blast the enemy down with Barrage spells when they're staggered. It may not be a Meta build; but screw the Meta; I'm having too much fun!

dra6o0n so I just tested my idea, and with Blow of Madness, Flashing Fang, Merciless Reaper, Bridge of Glory, Adrenaline and Final Journey; hitting 27000 with Severing Abyss. And that’s without a communal gift, and without a maxed out noble silver. Maxed out with everything, I’d approximate closer to 30k damage before the communal gift.

Now how to solve magic if they wanted to balance the game, either ichor cost or speed are the 2 things that could help make it less OP without being useless as I don't think the raw damage is OP just the speed is too fast so DPS gets crazy. As for these dex builds...buff stacking, get rid of it or limit it to like 1 elemental and 1 non elemental buff that would hit the build pretty hard That being said it's a PvE game only so nerfing things like that really aren't needed, so long as everything is still viable to be played, even if some builds are far stronger, I don't see an issue, let the OP stay OP but make sure some of the less used gifts still can be used on NG+ Enhanced and leave it be

Yeah, the "actual" last boss of the game if you get the "good" ending is a massive fucker called the Virgin Born and he will wreck your face if you try to rely on elemental damage or stagger

Almost all the builds are overpowered... until you get to NG+ and realize trash mobs can one shot you and everything has tank HP >.> would love to see some more builds aimed more for NG+. The NG+ in code vein is much harder than the NG+ in the other soulsborne games. Also I learned today there is a soft level cap around lvl 170. After that each lvl costs over 250k and only gives +1 to HP and damage making it near impossible to outlvl content even as the enemies continue to scale higher :D The game is actually getting more challenging the more I play it rather than easier because of the power creep from over leveling.

I'd suggest you run dex/dark mage build, and you'll need quickstep for bosses. Queenslayer is probably one of the best boss slayer with final journey, but you gotta be fast and not get hit.

Using final journey makes you go from normal to quick roll

It's the Quick mobility that gives you that. I was wondering what did it, until I tested and saw that it was the Quick roll that gives you the glide.

Have you tried any builds with red shoes? Always found it to be an interesting ability but haven't found a great build for it other than in my "beserker" style build (that doesnt use beserker)

It's just kind of a weird fit tbh. Essentially you can spam attack/rolls without caring about stamina. Good if you have some form big health restoration, dookie otherwise

Light gifts is really not broken. Talk about stats without grossy gift "FJ" that one is real brainless playstyle build ever. BoG only boost around 750-850 more or less that is still not even more than 100% of weapons value. Also using it in Q.Slayer need to sacrifice 1 Passive. F.Fang boost 100% for one hit so it only fit for 2H weapons. Other buff gifts look very viable as it not provide that much stats. They also have limited duration not 3mins like one another gift so you still need to cast it more than one time on story run before reach mistle. Next is Light projectile, Barrage gifts their cons are "range" and Spear gifts their cons are "damages" so this look fine and there are not many light dmg gifts anyway. Instead of spamming R1 these gifts make playstyle more different. What about FJ? What will you get from using this gift? Everything: Full HP(that's more than 1 restoration), Quick movement(then grab Swift D. you'll deal shitton 20% more dmg on everything fuckin easy), more damage(can't remember it formula). You get fully heal, quick dodge, higher attack and 3mins usage. You can even go to toilet, grab some drink, think what am I gonna do today then get back to kill boss with R1 spam without rushing yourself. Wow! that's so funny.
