It's not an issue Jenn, work as it is takes at least 40 hours of our week, we barely have free time and honestly I have other hobbies I rather spend my time. So it's understandable that we don't know more outside what we do daily. I agree that I need to take a bit of time to improve my skills, though.

I totally relate to having chat gpt as a friend almost, it's a great conversationalist and i used to use it to have fun and destress in between long coding projects. although with people speaking more about the negative environmental impacts of running each query, i figured i should dial back my use of it to just things that i really can't figure out. basically weaning myself off it slowly, but i miss joking around with it sometimes haha

Some might be coding with you, but some might be practising speaking skills in English. As a foreign, I lost myself while listening to you with my tremendous admiration. Your accent probably American accent has simply inspired me. Because, American accent is always on my focus point. And only there were a couple of words that I don't know. Then, I favorited them on my app quickly. Thereby, I got a huge vocabulary memory which was my little snippet just like your little snippet. Thanks a lot to your presence is kind of gift. Lastly, even while writing this comment gives me another practice is priceless, because I have been doing this for the last couple of years, and I am about to master it.

Hey! I work as a Fullstack developer, personally when I’m working on designs, I usually use Figma to sketch out how I want things to look. I saw that you prefer using a sketchbook, and that’s totally fine-whatever helps you visualize better! As you mentioned, the design feels a bit static for now, but honestly, sometimes simpler is better. The great thing about frontend development is that once you have a clear idea of how you want everything to look, it becomes much easier to build from there. One suggestion before diving into making things dynamic is to tweak some colors, especially for the button. Right now, it don’t have much contrast, so people might have to strain their eyes a little. A small change here can make a big difference. Also, something simple but impactful could be keeping your navbar at the top. That way, users can easily navigate through sections without needing to scroll back up-it makes the whole experience smoother. I’m really glad to see you enjoying this process. It’s so important to work on things for yourself and have fun with it. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with! 😊

Jenn, do you think studying at home is better than a cafe? Which one do you prefer from your experience? I love cozy cafe vibes, currently I live in Korea and I love cafes here, but you know in Korea people talk very loudly in cafes and restaurants so it's really hard to focus, and at home I end up distracting myself. Seeking for a deep focus 😢

I love these kinds of videos! I hope you'll do more like this in the future, if your time and motivation allow you. :D It's really fun to see how a backend engineer with no experience in front-end tries to make her own website. And I have to say, you're doing well so far. I really like it. For future videos, I'd love to see more coding happening. I don't know, I just like watching others code and try out new things. I would love that. But if you feel it's not the type of video you want to make, that's totally fine.

I know this is meant to be simple and I have done something similar myself of late. However you asked for some suggestions, so here are mine. I would make the nav sticky. Also, make the call to action button a darker color as it does not stand out. Possibly add an icon beside each heading and change the headings to have more than a simple one word title. Instead of youtube write 'Why you should follow me on youtube'.Your work heading could say 'Why you should hire me' and contact could say 'Contact me for a free consultation' or some such. Give people a reason to want to read.

Fullstack developer here - I’m not sure how I feel about every non frontend developer claiming that frontend development is so simple. You guys barely scratched the surface. Frontend isn’t just about colouring things and shifting buttons 5px to the right. In my opinion, people should stop dismissing other professions as simple or easy.
@imjenncho10 күн бұрын
of course i only scratched the surface, I wasn’t trying to imply frontend is simple. My intention was to say that skills are transferable and starting front end is simpler than expected. I know i have lots to learn and do if I wanna learn front end than just build a simple static website.
