I don't understand the apparent surprise on this video or #1 regarding "one in the chamber". While clearly not necessary in these cases, one in the chamber could be the difference between life and death. Does law enforcement carry empty chamber? Of course they don't, that would be ill advised to say the least. A law abiding citizen has the same right to carry, open or concealed or both depending on the state, and again, an empty chamber may be the difference, especially if you've only one hand available to defend you life or the lives of those around you.

Nah, he lied about it being a 'range bag' then another officer asked and it was now an 'every-day carry bag', even little white lies like that can uncover a persons true intentions. Also, he spoke way too much for someone in genuine shock and disappointment with themselves. He only seemed emotional and 'sorry' when he needed to be as in trying to talk his way out of it in a very unnatural way for someone who's made such a big mistake. Furthermore the gun was placed in the bag perfectly so to reach in and arm himself within a split second if needed with one in the chamber (not normal for an everyday carry in a rucksack) and an extra clip. Something isn't right, these officers made the right call.

It is always the opinions of the cops and/or the victim(if there happens to be one). Just like someone selling a firearm(or anything for that matter) where the seller has every right to make a judgmental decision on whether they feel the person is "worthy"(less "worthy" and more so just a right to refuse service when coming to food and general merchandising). Also this one had a few differences that I had noticed. One is that you have to remember that everyone(at least most everyone) involved in each case is a different person. Second is that the first guy had nailed every question with proof of who he was, his military experience, where he was going and what he was doing with names and job titles. He spent 18 years in the military which was confirmed. He was going to a conference for a respectable job as(what I remember) some kind of nurse/flight nurse(?). The man in this video was very hush about his job. In the video he didn't "name drop" his company/the company he works for nor did he speak of what exactly he was picking up. His CCW was also not confirmed during the time they had him held so they couldn't just release him onto a flight or to go home incase he did not have one since that could be a *felony(*obviously depending on a lot of factors like location and such). Things stacking up like that can force a cops hand into holding him with fear that if they let him go, he could be dangerous and that would fall on them. Anyways, like I had said before, It is always up to the cops when there is no victim and on public property. It's the reason people don't always get a speeding ticket. My brother could still be in prison for 3 more years spending 10 in total but they got him out in 2.5. Now he is still a dumbass in and out of jail but they tried to get him out so maybe he could be a father to his kids and spend his "earlier years" trying to be a functioning adult. I hope this sort of helps whether you agree or disagree and have a good day/night.

It's amazing how having an EXPIRED CCW (as in this case) can cause a different outcome from where the CCW is valid.
@BikerGuyVA Жыл бұрын
Looking at the two situations, I noticed some differences that may be significant enough to account for the different end results. First is related to the weapons: In the other video, he had a loaded clip in the gun but no round in the chamber. I don't think that he was carrying additional ammunition. In this video, the guy had a fully loaded clip in the gun and a round in the chamber. He had a second fully loaded clip in the bag with the gun. Next deals with permits: The guy in the other video was local and had a Florida gun permit, so was in-state. He also had someone who could come to the airport and pick up the gun from him. I don't remember if he had a concealed carry permit. In this video, the guy was from Wisconsin - non-local. He had a Wisconsin concealed carry permit which may not be recognized as valid in Florida. Finally, maybe the man's story in this video raised a red flag. He had driven to Florida from Wisconsin on business and was now flying back to Wisconsin for the weekend. He said that he was going to fly back to Florida on Sunday then drive his vehicle back to Wisconsin. One important similarity in both cases is that the men appeared fully cooperative with law enforcement, and it appeared that law enforcement personnel were calm and professional with them. If this had happened in a major airport, or if anyone had escalated, things could have ended very differently.

I get it, sucks for them to have to do extra work, but he's pretty much compliant except for the actual ammo, so they could charge a fine for the hassle, and get rid of the bullets, put the unloaded gun back in his checked bag, just like the guidelines say, and that's it. Can't believe he got arrested, guess I'll be there one day.
@bryanb33522 жыл бұрын
There has to be a penalty for making this mistake, but I think they're currently too harsh. But TSA is going to turn around say "Look at all the guns we found at the airport" .. from people that meant no harm with them and just forgot they were in a bag.

@bixbysnyder-002 жыл бұрын
Anyone can say they forgot or it was a mistake. In fact most people who commit a crime and then get caught often say such things. Then it becomes a matter of deciding if a loaded gun in an airport is a mistake or brought with criminal intention. It would be nice to take people's word for it, but people are liars. So no, the penalty certainly shouldn't be relaxed. Seriously, the lack of responsibility people are willing to accept these days is frightening.

Yeah they're too harsh until this guy pulls a gun and shoots your loved ones right? No he needs to lose his right to fly for the rest of his life, he needs to be fined $100,000 or more, and he needs to be charged as a felon so he can never own a gun again as long as he lives.

This remind me of the time I packed for a short trip using an old day pack for hiking I had. I thought I checked all the pockets but missed one that had a Swiss knife in it (small 1.25"). I was so embarrassed. Not as bad as a loaded handgun though.

I lost a mammoth tooth-handled custom folder at an airport in the Philippines. I had removed the other three knives from my person but totally forgot about the new knife. I was so shocked I told the security guy to keep it. I later found out I could have had it put in my checked baggage...

They did not have to arrest this guy.. Its up to the Sheriffs office to determine intent. There was no clear intent to harm anyone. An obvious mistake. TSA does their own separate investigation and will issue a Civil Fine. Upwards of 13K. The sheriffs office could have let him go with nothing more than a warning. I speak from experience. I had this exact same thing happen to me in Clearwater FL in 2018. Almost identical situation. Pinellas County Sheriffs let me go with a warning and even let me transfer my hand gun to someone with a CCW that I chose. TSA gave me a fine of 7k. I made my flight with an hour to spare. No issues. There is nothing on my record from this incident. In this situation a hefty fine gets the message across just fine. I will never.... ever... make that mistake again. I feel really bad for this guy. It could have been me. Thank goodness i had some very understanding officers and TSA agents dealing with my situation.. Also having no priors helps.

This is a prime example of a law-abiding citizen unduly harassed by unfair laws. He was respectful and deeply remorseful, and a .380 with a spare mag is hardly a point of concern. He made a mistake that should have sent him on his way with a citation and fine.
@King_Jimbo2 жыл бұрын
@@ismailmekebri6724 ouch. In that case, I don’t have much sympathy for him. You don’t make a mistake that drastic twice in a year’s time, this is just a case of him wishing to sneak a gun onto an airliner.

This should have been a citation with a mandatory court date. A judge should determine the outcome of these cases, and judges should know in depth the laws surrounding these issues. These situations should not widely vary across different airports.
@joshh535 Жыл бұрын
What are you on about? A judge *will* determine the outcome of this case, and all others like it. That's what happens when you go to court. But long before you ever see a courtroom, you have to deal with the police. The police arresting him is not them "determining the outcome of the case", they're just charging him with the laws he broke. And between dealing with the police and the courtroom, the state prosecutors decide whether to pursue charges in court or not. Again, the prosecutor is not determining the outcome of the case, a judge will do that. Also crying that "these situations should not widely vary across different airports" just highlights the fact that you don't understand shit about state laws. Here's a hint: state laws vary across different states. Do you also cry about the legality of weed varying across different states?! Or prostitution? Why do situations involving prostitution widely vary across different states?!?!

So he just keeps a firearm in a random bag, fully loaded just in case he gets the urge to go shoot on a firing range? Normal people keep their guns locked up, and only take them out when they actually need it, and then put it back. That way you don't "forget" you have the gun when trying to board an airplane. Also, you do NOT keep it loaded for extended periods of time like that. Gun safety 101, people.
