2:40 "A standard, good 'old-fashioned' network" ...now I officially feel old. LOL! Great video and I am just starting to dip my toes in to anything AV-related that also uses a network, this was my first video to watch. I love the idea of doing a lot of any signal transfer over an ethernet cable versus a ton of other cables.

Looking forward to this. Wanting to DIY my own node and this is going to help. Thank you for this.

Interesting, but seriously isn't it cheaper to buy a showtec net-2/3 pocket to have 2 universes with LAN, no USB involved and much smaller and lighter and more reliable than that bulky fragile bag from the episode 2?

Hello I'm wondering if I can use the Artnet to drive my Grandma onPC without having a command wing? I have the ma onPC software on my laptop and I'm looking for an interface to enable me to use it control my lights.

So I am not familiar with grandMA enough to say for sure, but I believe grandMA requires a command wing, or other hardware to allow the output of the parameters. So whether or not those parameters come from a wing, or artnet, it still requires that there is hardware connected to unlock them. However Dot2 (grandMA’s younger cousin) allows the output of one universe without any hardware connected.

You need a grand MA node. Either 1k or 2k node.

connecting ethernet switches via fiber isn't too expensive and you can get a lot further. Keep your twisted pair down to 100m (328 ft). Nice intro. Thanks

A dumb Ethernet Switch can be a cheap way to extend Ethernet beyond 100 meters.
