after this game the developers who made this also started their own company, deep shadows, and made xenus / boiling point road to hell, xenus 2 white gold and precursors. continuing to improve the vital engine. they must have run into some money problems after that because they're currently making casual hidden object games, but hopefully they'll return to proper full productions at some point.

I'm wrong? No. Look up Roman Lut and Sergey Zabaryansky on mobygames or something. Those are the two main people behind this game. They worked for GSC Gameworld at the time, but they went on to start their own studio. Deep Shadows.

This game reminds me of stalker and metro 2033 but much less refined than those titles and I do own this game as I got it for relatvely cheap price. A nice thing on the Hud is that this was probably the first game or one of the very firsts to have most of the essential HUD elements such as health, armor and ammo tied into the suit and the weapon we use. Also a rare thing worth to mention is that this game features multi functional guns (like games such as redline 2066, hard reset)

@KewneRain According to Neoseeker (only site I could find with any information), this game is on Vital Engine ZL. So, not the same engine, but some of the art assets were definitely reused. The Groza in particular looks like it was reused in FireStarter. At the very least, there are some very similar aesthetic designs.

Here's a fun fact: In the European version, the characters has different voice acting and speak in Russian-accented English. Reminds me of SOCOM 4 where the main characters have British accents instead of American in the European version.

Some games look like they took some ideas from this game... The Parasite that was in Alien Invasion or whatever (its also a hat in tf2) looks like the facehugger parasite from this game. The combat music reminds me of Killing Floor. And of course, the STALKER series used an updated version of this engine. Good thing it was made by the same people.

Honestly this game looks fun in a cheesy way, but the concept for both the story and the gameplay is so ragingly all over the place that this is a game that only could have been a product of the early 2000s when the technology was fresh and we hadn't decided what a vidja game was supposed to be yet. A little bit of aliens with the eggs and obvious facehugger ripoffs ("neck"huggers lmfao) interesting how they use mind control instead of mindlessly going for the whole "the thing"/mutating you concept which was done to death around that time. We've got future-y marines running around, and with a weird ass scopeless gun(LOL) to adapt to any situation. When you look at these types of weird old games from the early 2000s, it becomes so obvious that they stemmed from a million cool concepts existing for a video game existing but with no or poorly executed games for them, and developers basically saying? "What should our game be about? Too many cool ideas. Fuck it, throw a ton of ideas against the wall and see what sticks." lmao. Like I said, this game is so weird it could have only really existed at the time it did. But, the world is probably a little bit better for it and things were learned from it's existence.
