For those who dont know Codename Snake Eyes was a Royal Marines operation that consisted of an amphibious attack on a small town where Frogmen parachute into the sea off the invasion beach to clear beach obstacles and blow up a wreck blocking a small bay. Sea Venoms from a carrier would attack 'enemy' planes on an airfield, that was then captured by a unit inserted by helicopter. A cliff-climbing assault team would also capture a radar station. After a naval bombardment, the main RM force lands with full transport and equipment back-up, and moved inland to take the town.

@das wright they did do that but later, you can see these are .303 brens because of the curved mags where the 7.62 ones had a straight mag
@Scrump_Can4 жыл бұрын
@das wright I believe 20 round slr mags were compatible but there were purpose built 30 round lmg mags that wouldn't really work in the slr, I'm in the uk and here surplus .303 is effectively non-existent so count yourself lucky you can get your hands on that much whereas I'd have to hand load or use commercial ammo
@Scrump_Can4 жыл бұрын
@das wright I'm in jolly old England so you probably already know how scuffed our laws are, there is no crime from legal owners here either but they still feel the need to ban legal guns with no legal precedent and push to ban even more fully legal firearms, gangs here mainly use knives, handguns, sawed offs and occasionally acid, so nothing quite as wild as an mp40 but still pretty bad
@Scrump_Can4 жыл бұрын
@das wright were not armed to the teeth for a multitude of reasons, first there was the hungerford massacre in '87 where a mentally ill man shot a bunch of people with a type 56, berreta and m1 carbine, then there was then the dunblane shooting in '96 where a pedo walked into a primary school with 4 pistols and killed 16 kids, a teacher and himself and injured 15 more, in response to those shootings politicians banned all handguns (rifles with a barrel shorter than 12 inches or with a shorter overall length of 24 inches, shotguns have to be even longer) and all semi automatic centrefires (all rounds where the primer is in the middle have to be manually operated) we are allowed semi automatic 22 rimfires and semi auto shotguns (but there are already people trying to ban those as well), recently politician also banned fully legal systems like the M.A.R.S and lever release with no legal precedent. The home guard was was disbanded after WW2 and all of their potential duties have been taken up by the regular army or the reserves. The IRA hasn't really been a problem in England since the good Friday agreement, they still operate in Ireland but they're more of a heavily armed gang than a paramilitary group. The main terrorist threat here has been radical Islamic terrorism but that has calmed down since ISIS was effectively destroyed. The biggest reason we aren't armed is we've never really had laws in place to allow it, you cant be caught carrying any type of weapon for self defense or you will go to jail, and there have been cases of people just defending themselves but still going to jail for assault. Plus we've never really had the culture, the only people carrying has always been police and criminals and basically no one else. Plus no matter how many times a politician writes in their manifesto they will relegalise guns all they'll ever do is take them. We need a revamp of our defense and firearms laws because the current ones are just painful. TL:DR the really we aren't armed is laws and basterd politicians
@Scrump_Can4 жыл бұрын
@das wright honestly what we need right now is probably some Dad's army
