with the boss in the game, there was a lot of fine adjustments that needed to be made to make sure it plays fine and fix things like Gaps in the platforms. changes did have to be made to the lava platforms to allow the fireballs to work properly as it seems like the effect and how they worked was changed later in the game making them incompatible in this boss hitting the floor instead of spouting up. This effect can be seen in the first video. it is possible to beat the boss on level 2 or 3, however levels 1, 2 & 3 all have signposts so if somehow you manage to 1 cycle the boss it will still work correctly. the boss is a LOT easier with the fire shield, but I didn't wanna start with the fire shield to demonstrate how dangerous the fireballs actually are. what you see is how I believe how the original developer who worked on this boss fight intended it to work and look. none of the very very little artistic liberties were taken while restoring this boss fight.
After the Bossfight, if the level was set up correctly to do so then it would play the cutscene to go to the next level....this might be restored back in at some point but who knows. However, since moving right more causes another signpost to get triggered instead of going to Act 2 you end up in Act 3 and that's not intentional Act 2 was ALWAYS meant to come after this Act 1 boss fight.
