Hello, a year ago I got worried about this issue till a friend of mine asked me about the agriculture industy revolution and how technology affected farmers, I believe tech is also experiencing something similar. Tech jobs are just morphing increasing the capacity of production, so we need to adapt, but it does not mean farmers-(developers) will be replaced, I stopped being scared of this, Thank you for clarifying on this matter in a more articulate manner.

Data and Analytics need maths. It’s rare but I’ve had cases where clients want custom algorithms implemented. More commonly you need the math to make sure that metrics are calculated correctly. E.g percentage changes, ratios, weighted calculations etc.

Be realistic: if you dont have a CS degree and/or experience, its going to be extremely difficult for you to even land an interview. Things might eventually get better with the job market, and AI is certainly not replacing human programmers, but be ready to struggle. People need to be mentally prepared and realistic; without that degree and/or previous (relevant) experience, your application will most likely get immediately rejected.

After watching Andrew Ng talk about Agentic Loop, this is the way I look at it 1st within the next 12 months we will see the "Rise of AI Agents" 2nd in the next 5 years we will witness "The Great Knowledge Worker Reduction" 3rd after 10 years "Living with Robots" will be the norm White collar jobs will be affected first because of AI Agents and because the jobs are more expensive than manual labor Blue collar jobs will impacted later after robots become affordable commodity Most likely job reduction not elimination but in large percentage that will lead to 4th "Collapse of Social Security" with less people entering the job market the system might not be able to sustain the payout Been delivering small scale IT solutions for the last 3 decades and analyzing things is part of the job, I am truly HOPING I AM WRONG with this one

While I believe you are right as an ML engineer, the next question becomes what is the solution? Further, how is this prevented when economics is all about higher productivity, which is measured through effort minimization. Minimizing effort ultimately destroys social security and markets which ironically created them...
