I'm done doing coding interviews that have zero application to the daily work I am being hired to do.

I just wish it was domain-based. If you're a Backend Engineer applying for .NET role, than give an assessment about creating an API authenticating the user with a given JWT, access the DB, etc. Frontend Engineer for React, consume an API, write functionality where a user can do X, Y, Z & make it at least 40% WCAG compliant. Rather than just remember some dumb algorithm & solve some stupid code riddle.

3:44 Had me on life support with the sarcasm 🤣 This video is interesting because I found this tech interviewers youtube channel from a guy that has been interviewing programmers of all levels for nearly 15 years. The one thing that he said stood out to me was that there were plenty of times where him and his colleagues had a great pool of applicants and still selected nobody.

glad I made you laugh 😄yeah i've heard that too like places like Google would love to hire a ton of great engineers but there are not enough of them to go around. That's what makes me hopeful for job outlook 😅

No other profession asks so much crap to recruit… Thinking I’d have to do this all the time I want to switch jobs, makes me find another profession…

I dunno, kinda torn, I think data structures and algorithms questions are the worst way to gauge a candidates ability to do the job. And take home projects can get out of hand. However if they are wanting to see if you can do the job, 3 hours isnt crazy, some issues you work on at your job will take much more than 3 hours. Can't really have your cake and eat it too. I guess maybe the ideal way would be to psudo code talk it out with a hiring manager. Tech interviews are tricky to get right, I for sure dont know the answer myself.

I wouldn't say it is free labor, but it is a take home project. however, I do agree with you, home take project they want it very quickly, without taking what you're doing into account. I did a take away home project, I had to stay up to 4AM. to get it done, because I was super busy that day.

Yup, was about to comment the same. Especially when a project can be done by a beginner SE within 3 hours, it ain't definitely free labour. IMO he could have handled it differently by attempting to reschedule the deadline with a new project.

I actually did reschedule and said I wouldn’t have time to do a project. They rescheduled 2 weeks later, and again gave me a take home project 24 hours before the interview on midterms week. Think about it, if every company did this, I don’t think I’d even be able to interview at half the companies I did just based on time constraint

is 500 question(Easy+Medium+Hard) from leetcode enough to at least clear the coding assessment round for most of the companies or do we need to grind more, if that is what they expect from us .........Thank's For The Video.

There's a lot of people who say having to do more than 100-150 means that you aren't practicing in a way that will make you learn the most efficiently. That being said, I did around 150 last year, and plan on doing at least that amount this year as a refresher, so I think as long as you feel confident in solving each leetcode pattern that you've solved enough. Make sure to still practice every day leading up to interviews to keep it fresh in your mind though!

Take home projects are stupid because they are typically time-consuming. I'd much rather do a Leetcode question that I can complete in half an hour.

A leetcode question that you have to go out of your way to prepare for giving 1000s of hours in training.
