What is the point in defining missing values, if it's going to show that you have missing values from the cell just being blank anyhow?

To tell the difference between: missing values that you don't actually have AND values that you forgot to fill in. Maybe?

What if I were coding information like GPA or GRE values? Would I just use the straight 0-4.0 for GPA as my range with no discrete value or would I enter something just in case an entry was transposed or transcribed incorrectly? Same for GRE values?

Hi Dr Grande, I have a large data set with a lot of participants refusing to answer questions. As I need to pair some items together via computing variable function, they will negatively impact the total score of the scale. How can I get rid of the refused items? They have already been coding as "99"

Hi Todd, many thanks for your missing value teaching., I followed your steps and it was quite helpful. However, am confused with the analysis I did using Descriptive Frequency and on the analysis result table, it shows the missing values by the left side of the analysis. Is that normal? I thought it won't specify there the number of missing values in the analysis since the missing values have been replaced with the data.I will really appreciate your help.
