Pretty good video, no over-the-top editing, I like it. I don't have a Medium subscription so I'm glad you gave a video link early on 😂

Summary: Some people are better suitednfor programming than others, but it is not about inherent talent. It is about 1. Having a growth mindset. Stop comparing yourself tonother people. 2. Make programming a Daily habit. Establish a Daily routine.

Im getting ready to change my career path. I've zero experience/background in coding, it always frightened me. I'm doing as much research as I can so I won't become too overwhelmed and doubt myself. Thanks for the advice! Definite relief!
@daLoerdchen Жыл бұрын
Did the change this year. Worked in finance until october '22 and now work as a junior developer. (So far) The best thing i did in ages. Although everyday you just feel like you are probably the most stupid person to have ever lived it is incredible fun. Everyday is extremely exhausting, but somehow it never feels like "work". I even noticed myself doing work overtime (not required, and the company i work for is just as employee-friendly as the memes about european companies) and starting a project by the side after work. If you don't have too much self-doubt to begin with and your tolerance concerning frustration is quite high, go for it! :-)

Hi Natasha, I enrolled for data science course 2 months back without any prior coding experience, I am unable to code and am struggling everyday and my classmates are coding effortlessly, i felt like i am not made for this, After watching your video there's a ray of hope that with enough practice I'll definetly be able to code one day, Thanks a lot for the video

I took my first programming class and my professor was so bad he did not teach me anything. After that I was planning to give up on computer science and change to mathematic but during the summer I join a Puente summer stem and a non-profit coding organization and they help me to stay motivate and not give up. They also introduce me to a lot of resources. before I learn about all this I had already had my two cs class and it was not a good idea. However I do plan to recover for next semester make up for what I lost. I try to stay hopeful. thank you for your words and advice.

it is kinda sad that the solution would be "go home after your full time and keep working". Maybe everyone should just be a bit more mediocre and live their lives a bit off the computer , 😅
@TimJavins Жыл бұрын
There's a lot of value and maturity in accepting the "mediocre" role in life. On the other hand, you can make coding feel mediocre by treating that technical understanding of computers like it's as normal and expected as reading and math. Teaching people (especially kids) the technical side of computers over the course of years should be the norm.

He was at fixed mindset then he fought with ghosts in his mind and result was he don't want to accept the defeat that he can't lear to code, so he started again and now he is in growth mindset and solving leetcode easy and sometimes medium , he knows he just have to put some more time, some more patience, some more effort regardless of anything and he's gonna get it , he's gonna win himself...😊

Was thinking of pivoting my career into data science… but practicing anything for 5 hours per day while working full time is just… insane. I can code at a novice level in several languages and an intermediate level in T-SQL, but the amount of time this would take without any guarantee is maybe foolish for me.

Ah I realize that my situation was different from most people's - I was able to put in so many hours since I was in university and didn't have too many responsibilities at the time. If you're working full-time then even an hour or two everyday is plenty, in my opinion. And maybe a few more hours during the weekend if possible. Good luck with the career transition!

Coding, especially web development, is something that I have always wanted to do. I have know. Basic html for long now. But then I went ahead to study a health related course in the university. After graduating and during my internship, it dawned on my that being a health professional wasn’t my thing. Right now, I have applied to a college in Canada to learn web programming or software programming. I’m 31 years old now and having doubts that I can still do well and land good jobs in tech. What do you think?

Is it possible programming with 50 years old?....is it possible change the job yo this age?
@natassha_ds Жыл бұрын
It definitely is possible -- if I were you, I'd look into learning ChatGPT/AI-Assisted programming rather than trying to learn it the traditional way. And if you already have experience in a different industry, it might be easier to get into analytics or apply coding techniques within your field instead of jumping into an entirely new field.
