The problem with instant rematches is, if Cody wins, there has to be a 3rd consecutive fight to determine the true champ, and the hype for the 2nd isn't as big as the 1st, so the 3rd would be garbage. I just don't get instant rematches for that reason.. you might as well say best out of 3 is the new rule, no matter what. Rose knocks Joanna out, Johanna gets the instant rematch. TJ puts Cody to sleep, instant rematch. The one instant rematch that'd of made a bit of sense was Bisping vs Rockhold, because they were 1-1 after Bisping took his belt, and they never fucking made the 3rd fight. Fuck me.

Enough force lands on your chin and your going out no matter who you are or where your advantages lie. When your in a fire fight like those two were, it can go either way. Don't forget TJ got caught at the end of the 1st in the pocket. Had the bell not sounded he may have been finished. Then in the 2nd he caught Cody in the pocket and finished him. Pocket fighting is just dangerous in general...especially when your wearing such small gloves. Second fight will be the same and could go either way IF these guys are in the pocket swinging like that again. Maybe in the 2nd fight they'll be more cautious though.

Carlo 10 seconds before the end of the round there is a clap indicating so to the fighters. Cody was literally waiting for TJ to walk into the pocket the entire fight, and thus was not in control of the fight. So when people say TJ was saved by the bell yes it's true but at the same time it wasn't luck it was strategy, and unless Cody becomes capable of fighting aggressively the same thing will happen except TJ will only be more dominant because he won't need Duane to give him Cody's number, seeing as how he clearly already has it.

Carlo André Aguilar you just can’t accept the fact that it wasn’t luck that won TJ the fight. He was aiming low with the kicks then went high. Just because it caught Cody off guard it becomes luck? When he throw that right hook in the pocket, TJ made sure he covered his chin while Cody didn’t. Whether Cody expected him to walk into the pocket or not doesn’t matter. You just don’t want to give TJ props on his win. Cody is known to keep his hands low leaving his chin exposed but that’s how he fights he needs to see what’s going on and he’s never gotten caught because he’s so fast and powerful. Also, he didn’t adjust shit in the Cruz fight, he had one plan from start to finish and it was wait for Dom to come to him and counter all night. They came up with that game plan after TAM fought Dom like 6 times.

For example, I used to think when Conor KO’d Aldo that it was always luck but going back and look at Aldo’s fights he throws explosive punches like that, Aldo even threw a similar combination like that in a different fight.
