As the son of a trucker I can say first hand we didn’t get to go on hunting trips, rarely got to go fishin with him, hardly got to do much with him at all. The time I got to spend with him was watching him work on his truck and help where I could, and more importantly the days I got to go on the truck with him. Those are some of my greatest memories and I don’t resent what I missed, I hold onto what I DID get out of it. My dad will always be a legend in my eyes

Same brother. You nailed it. Spending hours help keep the damn truck running for one more run. We definitely grew similar.

My Dad was a trucker. I rode with him. He gave me love beyond measure on those truck rides. He was my Hero and always. I have amazing skills today because I paid attention to everything he did and said. It was an honor to know and love him LD Taylor of Blanchard, Oklahoma ❤

I'm a lucky one my dad picked up milk, two routes every other day. Was with him all the time especially when I was little 4-7. Used to sleep on the floor board of a LTL 9000 next to the heater. Needless to say I did not have to try for my class a.

Pipeliner here… you go out on the road for a promising future for yourself and your kids but yet lose everything at home in doing so… hank warned us best and Cody reminded us but with all the bad I still wouldn’t trade my lifestyle with anything….

Been working the rigs now for a while boss and you ain’t lying. Farther you go up the line drilling the more you’re a stranger at your own house, but I’ll be damned if my kids will know want in their life.
@travisdthornton2 жыл бұрын
@@thetexorcist2235 yessir I guess that’s part of it… wouldn’t trade shit for the lifestyle… you definitely know who to keep in your life and who to cut… and as far as the kids go they might not know want and they’ll hate you but it’ll be for the best of reasons… the painful part about it is they won’t realize that until they’re grown… but there’s no option but to keep going is there?

@@travisdthornton ... Many years ago, I got divorced, and ended up raising two boys. I worked 12hr shifts 5-6 days a week, plus cleaning floors for extra money. It was tough. But they never missed a meal, and we spent time together when time permitted. When they grew up, is when they realized that everything I did was for them.

No disrespect to Hank but this song is simply awesome and equally deserving of the title. Maybe more so. Cody is a gift to us who don’t like a lot of country, he is perceptive, he is intuitive, he uses simplicity to produce beautiful pieces. Have you heard “Grey”? If not you should. Thanks to Cody and cheers to his amazing contributions to American music

They say it's a lost highway They must be right 'Cause I've been driving for years And it's just beyond my sight And I am too far gone to be turning around So I just look ahead and drive I remember the way it always made me feel When David Allen sang The Ride It takes you up, it takes you down The road don't end it just goes around It makes you laugh, it makes you cry It makes you live and die And what I have lost, what I have gained Is all to none, it's still the same I will drive until I find Until I find that lost highway Many others have traveled this road I try to steer clear Of all the wreckage and the shattered souls Forgotten in the years And the ghosts that walk on the side of the road Say to turn your car around One day, son, you'll be waking with us Searching for what can't be found It takes you up, it takes you down The road don't end it just goes around It makes you laugh, it makes you cry It makes you live and die And what I have lost, what I have gained Is all to none, it's still the same I will drive until I find Until I find that lost highway What I have lost, what I have gained Is all to none, but still the same I will drive until I find Until I find that lost highway
