It’s a cheapo from Amazon. It’s ceramic.

A trick to make eggs not stick is to heat the pan until water drops bead up like little bbs and roll around for a few seconds , if its too cold it just bubbles and evaporates, if its too hot it splatters and evaporates quickly you want the little balls to roll around, that is perfect and nothing will stick after adding your oil first of course. Gee is my preferred lube for eggs. It works like magic on aluminum and stainless steel but I'm pretty sure it works on cast iron as well. Try it and see with one egg first.

Try Bosh Icon wipers, they are an silicon based wiper and will outlast all of the other wipers. Also quiter. They are more expensive but last longer. I have them on my two vehicles. Put them on three years ago.

Ahh, I was in that same spot at Santa Elena Canyon about two years ago but it was August so couldn't explore much. So glad you went and shared some of your hike 🙂 I still hope to get back there. I've never had any trouble with a fried egg in my cast iron skillets, it must be the cheese causing sticking I think. I'm surprised by all the gear you have in your backseat, but then I remember that you do this full-time. 🌅

I use butter to cook my eggs in my cast iron skillet and they don't stick. I do add oil to the pan after every wash, just wipe down with oil to build that layer of seasoning. I do the same with wok pans. Thanks for taking us along with you on your travels!

I have never had Quinoa in my life but this looked so yummy that we went to Krogers after watching and bought all the stuff and ate it while we watched the Lions beat the Buccaneers!! I forgot to mention to not use Windex on automotive windshields and any kind of displays because it has Ammonia in it Most displays, windshields have a coating on them, the ammonia destroys the coatings. Hey!, you were smart to get out of Texarkana, it's one cold place.

The secret to a clean windshield is, spray with dish detergent solution, scrub with NON-ABRASIVE plastic scrubber if there are stuck on bugs etc,then squeegee, then polish with newspaper. NON-ABRASIVE. NOT SCOTCH BRITTE WHICH WILL PERMANENTLY SCRATCH THE HELL OUT OF IT. Looks like a beautiful area there, especially the canyon. Spots on glass are often minerals left by water when I'd dries. Detergent won't phase it. Vinegar will. It's mildly acidic which devolves mineral deposits. Spadefoot toads can bury themselves in mud, which hardens, for months. Then when rains come, they emerge, mate then their eggs turned tadpoles mature to repeat the process. One species is the spade foot frog. My college biology professor told of him and his colleagues getting up in the middle of the night and venturing into the Mojave desert to witness the emergence of these toads. It only happens rarely.

My mom had a cast iron skillet that was 'ONLY" for eggs!!!! Then she had a cast iron only for everything else. And her eggs never stuck! These skillets were probably 20 years old when I was 60 years younger,and I have no idea which one of my siblings ended up with them!!!

Big Bend area is a great place to visit. I was there about two years ago and stayed at Big Bend Ranch State Park. I had a great little boondocking spot that backed up to the Rio Grand. I'm not sure if you've explored Big Bend Ranch before but there are a few nice hikes. Closed Canyon Trail stands out in my memory as a nice little hike in a slot canyon. Enjoy the warmth and Via Terlingua.

Kellie I enjoy your cooking segments you are a great cook. Respectfully I do not think your cast iron pan is properly seasoned. Mine has almost a plastic appearance to it & nothing sticks. I clean in hot water with no soap not just because soap strips the oil but also the porosity of cast iron holds the soapy taste. After every use I clean right away then heat on stovetop to med high & squirt a bit of oil usually canola but sometimes avocado. I use a wadded up paper towel usually half sheet & with tongs spread a light coat over surface kinda working it in . I dont let it go past smoking temp. Since I do it every time it only takes a light top coat

Eggs stick on my Lodge cast iron but not my Wagner or Griswold cast iron. They are machined smooth on the cooking surface and not course like the lodge is.

It’s very frustrating, I can fry or scramble eggs and sometimes they don’t stick. If I try and do an omelet or frittata they want to stick.

I’m addicted to feta cheese.Egg and feta is the great combination for the breakfast.I also recommend Turkish menemen.You need to chop peppers and tomatoes.Fry them together about 5 min.or so in the frying pan with little bit oil ( butter is better )adding scrambled eggs with some seasoning,salt and cook for another 5 minutes or so.Taste will be awesome.Enjoy 👍😄 By the way,you have to have a bread slices with that.
