Here’s a little dish washing tip to save water. Pick up a half gallon pesticide pump sprayer from Walmart and use that to rinse the dishes after soaping them up. It works GREAT!!

Years ago when we visited friends in Texas, they took us to an HEB store. It was great, even back then. If you find you don't use all your fresh herbs, you can always leave them on the stem, tie a string around them, and hang them till they dry out. No waste! ~ Kir (and Ron)

Ohh yea! We visited relatives just outside of Austin.. in Backstrop? TX. We went to an HEB for the first time... Man.. it was like the Disney World of grocery stores. The only trouble was.. it was SO HOT the ice cream never made it home. 😫 . It was also the first time we ate at a SONICS on the way to the Texas Hill Country. A very interesting trip.

And another hillbilly camper suggestion for your pantry would be to hit a military surplus store and buy a large 30mm ammo can the type with release levers and handles on both sides. They are great for bread, chips, cookies or any other items you don't want to get crushed while jostling around in your camper. They are airtight and water tight. I suggest drilling a hole in it and installing a pressure relief valve though otherwise they become hard to open if you go from high to low altitude. You can usually find those at Farm and Fleet or Tractor supply stores as replacement parts for air compressors. You can weld hasps on the ends too that protrude through the handles that you can put D rings on and chain it to a tree through the handles while camping in bear country as well to use as anti bear boxes for your food or other smelly items that they might be attracted to.

I love watching you guys. I grew up in Arkansas as well. I owned a nobo 10.6. I hated seeing that yours was stolen. However, when you come to Texas there are three religious experiences that you have to experience. 1.) Buc-ee's 2.) Whataburger's and 3.) H-E-B. HEB stands for Howard E Butt, the guy who founded it. However, they now say "here everything is better".

That 30 bag isn’t for winter y’all, down or not. Go with a sub-0 bag because you never know when you’ll lose heat. Throw a hot hands packet down in the foot of the bag & keep a water bottle in there too so you don’t waste fuel melting ice. When your qt Nalgene bottle is frozen solid, that’s a cold night. Love your vids.

I don’t know where you are in Hill Country, but there is a Cabelas in Buda, just south of Austin, on I-35. You might be able to find side walls for your canopy there. I enjoy A Day in the Life vlogs. So this camping property is like a hip camp. It's cool land owners with large properties open up some of the land to campers. I like this idea. Plenty of space for privacy. The HEB store looked like there was lots of fresh produce. Kellie, I like to cook too so I would like this store . Sometimes I have to go to two grocery stores per week to find the items I need. Your recipes for the week sound delicious. Thanks for showing us how you organize your camping life.
