Күн бұрын

Often called a test piece of ski mountaineering, the Grand Teton is an icon in skiing and climbing. From an abundance of mileage and vert, to technical mixed climbing, the Grand presents a multitude of challenges for the way up and back down. Joining Cody Townsend is a guy whose life was shaped and sculpted by the mountain itself, the legendary Jimmy Chin. With Jimmy fresh off an Oscar win and a global media tour, Townsend joins up in Jimmy's backyard on the mountain that brought him to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The crew encounters an early wake up, vicious winds and some crucial decisions on there way to ski one of the most recognizable mountains in the world.
This is line 10 completed of The FIFTY, a project following Cody Townsend as he attempts to climb and ski all fifty of the lines and mountains chronicled in the book, "The 50 Classic Ski Descents of North America." The series documents Townsend's journey's, travels, challenges and each line and mountain listed in the book. It's a journey through the most majestic mountains and ski lines in North America along with a unique insight into how skiers make decisions in the backcountry, how they plan, navigate and safely move through the mountains and the people that dedicate their lives to the mountains.

When you have done it all it is not charging hard what motivates you, it is the scenery and the small things what keep you going, it is a regression to the roots. There is a lot of truth in your comment.

Thanks for the tour of Jimmy's garage! That could have been an entire episode in itself. Seriously though, this was probably your most complete adventure short film yet. Really hoping we are going to get to see a long-form edit of all of these vlogs one day. That might be worthy of Oscar consideration. In the meantime, don't quit your day job kids!

I climbed this mountain the summer I turned 16, but I'd love to go back and climb it in the snow! It's an incredible mountain. When my dad climbed it in the early 70's, there was a glacier and ice climbing was required- by the time I got there in 2006, there was none :(

I am so relieved to watch this one! First of all, you and Jimmy - he's already a legend, you're fast becoming one - so cool to see you guys together, operating so well together, making intelligent calls. Secondly, 7000 feet of terrible skiing! Validates some of my own experiences. Overall, I've felt lucky about the quality of the downhill stuff I've earned, but odd days stand out when it's been just a question of getting down in one piece. And it's nice to know even superstars don't get any exemption from that! The more I watch this series, the more I love it.
