When Llandegla first opened there used to be the log northshore and the pallet drop into the burm, awesome riding, we used to night ride around the Forrest before any official trails were built, and the long first climb used to be our downhill finish to the cars!

Wow, sounds like some epic moments and great memories there and night rides are soooo good, they really test your skill’s to the max, even on familiar terrain. Thanks for watching 🤜🤛

Great edit! Llandegla isn't everyones cup of tea but ithas a special place in my heart because its where I first started riding. I go back for a nostalgia ride every once in a while

Totally agree! It's a place that my daughter has learned so much from and loves so much, this has increased her confidence and her skills to take on places like BPW and Cwmcarn. Cheers for watching ✊

I rode Llandegla for the first time on Saturday. Certainly very well worth the visit, loved the place... but there was a lot more pretty gruelling climbs along the black route than I'd anticipated. I'm not claiming to be especially fit myself, but I rode with a seasoned MTBer and triathlete and even he found it tough.

Firstly, thank you so much for watching 👍. Secondly, I also felt the same on my first visit! I’ve learned to live climbing over the years and for me it’s definitely a mind over matter experience as the DH is ohhh so worth it 👌. There’s so many amazing venues in Wales 🏴. Stay safe and shred well 🤜🤛

Great going down , but that climb going up will sap your energy if get to do it twice in one day that will be enough
@UPHILLPHILL6 ай бұрын
Agreed 👍. But as you said, it’s great going down so that is always the prize 🏆 to focus on, what goes up must shred down 😛🤘. Cheers for watching 🤜🤛

I'm sure a well earned trail holiday would scratch that itch😉

Hi Phill, great vid! Look more like the black trail are more like red? Also rideable for non-pro's as long as the reduce speed a little so they don't get massive airtime?
@UPHILLPHILL7 ай бұрын
I suppose it’s all dependent on the type of black graded trails you’re used to? If I compare them with Dyfi, then absolutely, they’re more like a solid red. Black isn’t always about the amount or level of ‘gnar’, sometimes it’s simply a solid/long red with plenty of features. Personally, red, or black, they’re huge fun and always plant a massive smile on my face 😁. Thanks for watching🤜🤛. Stay safe and shred well 🤘

I know what you mean, I could have done with some of Gandalf’s magic for those climbs 😂🤣

Hi, great video Phil. We are going to OPA on friday for the first time, will i be able to complete both red and black trails in a day? Fitness shouldn't be an issue.🤔
@UPHILLPHILL Жыл бұрын
Cheers Scott, pleased you enjoyed it 🤜🤛. If your fitness is good I’d suggest red in the morning, treat yourself to some nosh at the café and fuel up for the black in the afternoon. It’ll be a challenge and quite tiring but one hell of a day, enjoy dude 🤘

Hi mate. Considering Llangdegla next year. I’m more into flowy and techy singletrack, looking at the black sections they seen more jump based. Would I be better sticking to the reds? Great vids by the way, you’ve made my mind up to def ride the Marin trail (Gwydir Mawr) as soon as I can!
@UPHILLPHILL2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike 👋. The reds are just as much fun, not quite as jumpy but tbh the blacks are great progression for jumps and handling speed. If you like techy trails, look out for my next video’s which are the Tarw du (Black bull) at coed y brenin and Dyfi Bike park, which is just epic. Thanks so much for watching👍

These trails look great! What GoPro were you using on the front as it did a great job capturing rock steady video!

Thanks so much 👍. I use the Hero9 black mounted on my chest harness (when wearing my TLD A3 lid and chin mounted on my TLD Stage FF as in the Dyfi videos) and the rear view is from my Hero8 Black that’s rear mounted on my helmet. Make sure you get over to Llandegla as the trails are better than they look on the video 🤟🤜🤛

@@UPHILLPHILL I went for the first time last October and did the blue trail, my first experience of catching air and I loved it. Not sure of where I was but there was a long fast downhill section which I loved as well. Anyway I want to try the red next, it’s just the climbs!
@UPHILLPHILL Жыл бұрын
It’s an incredible feeling for sure 👌. Those reds are awesome and yes, the climbing is a little tough but it’s absolutely worth every second of each climb. Your face will hurt from all the grinning and whooping you’ll be doing 😝. Have a great time when you go👍. Stay safe and shred well 🤜🤛
