This series follows our adventures during our stay at the CAMC Coed y Llwyn. Day 1: Rather than park in Porthmadog, we parked a little further round the bay at Borth y Gest and followed the footpath which hugs the coastline. Later we drove to Beddgelert. It is famous for the 13th Century legend of 'Gelert', the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince, Llewelyn the Great, who wrongly killed his faithful dog in haste, having thought it had killed his son and heir. As he plunged his sword into his hound, he then heard his son's cry. He found his son alive by a mighty wolf - which Gelert had slain! It is said that the Prince, filled with remorse, never smiled again. (time to get your tissues out!). There is a lovely circular walk along the river Afon Colwyn - perfect for a picnic or playing in the river - Peggy enjoyed it!
