Can a guy declare for the draft, not get drafted, and return to his college team?

The fact that there was not a mention of Malik being amongst those draftees definitely puts my antennas up🧐

If the Texans had drafted him, his career would have been much better, and the Texans would have been better, too.

Quinn Ewers is the reason why the Texas run game couldn't get going. I think the theorizing about Majors and Conner not being "people movers" at 34:00 is just poppycock. Yes, the Texas run game will be better next year. But not because Neto and Cole are better "people movers." It's a misunderstanding of the way that modern football is played. 24 of the top 25 rushing teams in college football this year got more than 200 net yards from quarterbacks. The threat of the QB run game is integral to the game of modern football. It is not a "nice to have", it is essential. And I think Sark himself has been relatively slow to recognize this. And we are seeing this slowly permeate the pro ranks as well. Setting side RG3s controversial definitions of QB mobility, it is actually the case that your Div Rd QBs include Allen, Hurts, Daniels, Lamar, Mahomes, etc. Back in college, Riley Leonard averages 173 ypg passing, he hasn't hit 250 yards passing this entire season, JJ McCarthy last year averaged under 200 yards passing. Quinn Ewers is no threat to pull the ball on the RPO. He does not run QB Power. He does not run QB sneaks. We also didn't have the personnel to effectively run RB power either. So theorizing about how the line will be better at "moving people", at the highest levels of football, a play that is designed with the requirement in mind that in order for the play to work you have to move your guy 2 gaps over is a poorly drawn play. Football is about accounting for personnel, about affecting the eyes of the defense, about generating numerical mismatch. Texas had little or no run game variability this year, they operated a short call sheet because they lacked the skill personnel to execute a complex run game. Against statistically poor run defenses like Clemson, yeah you can do basically whatever you want. But against good run defenses, top 25 units, they're going to populate the football when you try to execute your predictable 1 or 2 run plays. That will be different next year, and if it's not then Texas will continue to hit a wall, because no team is out there playing against elite level competition and just moving guys all over the field. That is not reality. Ohio State is a great example. They weren't washing Texas all across the field. They just used simple counting. On the 4th and 2, Howard checks to QB power. Why? 6 man box, 7 blockers. It's basic arithmetic, and basic arithmetic wins every time. Taaffe is unblocked on 2nd and goal. But Judkins runs in. Why? Because he's 220 pounds, and Taaffe is not.

Texas had a run game in 2022 and 2023. Quinn was the qb. So no, he isn’t the reason. He may play a small part because he couldn’t stretch the field, but the majority of the issues comes from the lack of power running backs, and Oline inconsistencies

@@DudeRX that's horrible logic. 4 of the 5 same Olinemen from the 2022 and 2023 teams were on the 2024 team so by your own logic it wasn't the Oline. The reality is, Texas was an SEC school competing in the big 12. You can't compare the two, that's the exact talent differential I was talking about. Against bad teams, yeah you can blow them off the ball. But when Texas did face elite teams in 2022 they had the same exact issues running the ball. They averaged under 3 ypg in two games vs Bama (both 2022 and 2023), and only 2.4 in 2022 WITH Bijan Robinson. And Bijan only got 2.4 against TCU. It's always been a problem but when you're a top 5 talent composite team playing a big 12 schedule then it's not going to show up every week.

OU fans confirmed to be clowns after tying a bunch of balloons together but had we blown it I'd be calling RT the same. Does anybody know why Kent plays 30+ minutes a game (just exactly what does he do well) while Weaver plays not one single minute?
