This made my morning on so many levels! Thank you for a straightforward rebuke to naysayers and critics. I have wondered about using pods for camp coffee. It’s on my list now with a solid technique for brewing. And a spot of sugar in the woods is indeed “ the least of their concerns”. You’ll likely burn off those carbs in ten minutes of activity around camp. So grateful for seeing this today!

Great tip! My buddy and I were camping and realized we didn't bring coffee but he had a box of pods in his car, so we brought them and just dumped them into my percolator. Had we thought of this we could have left the percolator behind and had better coffee faster. Will probably use your technique from now on to save the weight and space. Cheers!

Great idea, especially in a pinch! Easy to pack and carry as well. Thanks.😊

I often wondered how I could use the pods if the maker was not available! If you stay at a hotel, it is easy to grab a handful of those!😅

I am currently working on cooking foods that are' micro-wave only' as they are much cheaper than those dehydrated hiker's meals. I liked how you just got on and made coffee and didn't let the lack of a machine hold you up. These days I use Nescafe Caramel Latte sachets which have everything in them so I don;t have to carry the sugar and milk powder; although I do love my tea and that has to be standard NATO so the vehicle's brew box has the makings all the time. I liked your advice for people to write to the manufacturers instead of virtue signalling and trolling in the comments. Good on ya! I also use gas, meths and twigs as well as hexie as it is still legal here and the smell takes me back to my ill-spent youth as one of Her Majesty's hired guns. Keep doing your own thing, Cobber.

Great idea Bex! I’ve had some success with using tea flow-through bags. Remove the staple & tea, fill with coffee grinds, sugar, & powdered creamer. Just let it seep in boiling water a bit longer than tea 🫖 ☕️

The missus has an abundance of free pods she got sent but didn't like most of the stronger ones. I was thinking of trying something with them for camping but thus far haven't got around to trying them out. Early bird catches the worm and thanks for being the early bird 😉👍🏼

Leave it to Bex to figure that out. Awesome idea I must try this out for myself. I enjoy strong black coffee, and tea. Although tea can be hot or cold no sugar!!!!

I really enjoyed seeing your coffee idea 💡 in action! I've wondered many times if the single serve coffee pods could be used without a coffee machine. You just made my pocket coffee kit even lighter in weight! I'll be trying that tomorrow djuring my fishing outing! Thanks 😊!

👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. You use whatever you wish .. you are using it, not anybody else. Herewith some unsolicited 'useless information' .. Here in Switzerland, those 'Coffee Machines and Pods are very popular. Besides, at a large dinner table, the schlep of having to drink one's coffee in 'shifts' .. one at a time .. the queue waiting for their 'cuppa' being as bad as that outside an Electric Appliance Store on a 'Black Friday', besides that, I (my personal opinion), consider them to be the rip-off of the century .. 'marketing' at it's finest. Unfortunately, the Swiss love this sort of stuff so .. 🙄😏. That's a good tip. I have been mulling over trying one of those 'pods' similar to as you have done. There IS a 'machine' on site .. not mine and I have never used it! Just yesterday, the Lady of the house threw away a batch of pods that had got 'misfiled' and were years over their expiry date. Knowing then what I know now .. Black Coffee. I weaned myself off Milk and Sugar years back. Naked Coffee is, like Whiskey, an acquired taste. A pinch of Salt in the Coffee 'fools' the taste buds and substitutes much of the perceived 'bitter' with a mellow, 'sweet' taste. That said, once converted, there is no going back .. although, on occasion, I do like, after a Full English Breakfast, a Mug Sweet Milked Coffee .. Condensed Milk being quite popular. Once again, a good tip .. thanks. Take care ..

Don't think I'll be taking pods out into the field anytime soon, but I can't believe I've never thought of using those herb jars to store coffee in; next time in the field is going to be a lot tastier with that idea in mind. Cheers!

Ok if you are a coffee light weight 😂 I would use your whole container for one cup 😊 Good idea though with the pods. I would need at least 3 per cup.
