Coffee Shop Customers Pay it Forward

We set up a few hidden cameras in a local coffee shop in Royal Oak MI and watched as a chain of coffee-goers paid it forward!

My understanding is that they pay for one coffee (they probably cost the same) and leave, without staying there waiting to hear the amount.

If I got a $3.00 coffee and then I would pay another $3.00 towards the next person's bill. That's what I do. I buy something for myself and then put the same amount I just paid for my item towards the next persons bill. Thats how I do it so that I can pay it forward without breaking the bank so to speak

There are some coffee shops, also, who will let someone pay for however many coffees they'd like to buy in advance and it creates a stash of sorts of prepaid coffees. Then a person who can't afford a cup can come in later and get one for free from the 'tab'. Like a homeless person, where they can then be allowed to sit and drink in the cafe and get out of the cold/weather etc... Other places will do that with pizza, etc... they just pay for however many slices they can afford/want to in advance and someone who comes in later can get a slice without worrying that they don't have the money and still get something to eat. I know there can be people who would take advantage of it. But normally these are just mom and pop shops anyway that want to give back. They know these people, see them day in and out; and the community helps them by paying for some of it without the business having to foot the whole bill of helping others. Working together, that sort of thing.

These people could be struggling in more ways than just outer appearance; Some people may never know what one little gesture can do to help someone - even if they can't or never will see it. Look at the woman who started to tear up; Obviously, this little pay it forward, got her to be emotional. All people need kindness; You can pay it forward both ways.

I can't give thousands of dollars to someone for cancer treatment. I'm sorry I'm not rich. But I can go visit them and buy them a cup of coffee and chat with them in the meantime, or buy a bowl of soup for someone who really needs it and I can go without for a day.

yes they might be acting like that because like if someone does something nice for you have to do something nice for them right well thats how it starts friend. but later. their mind tells them oh remember that nice thing that lady did for you in the coffee shop and you did the some for the person in front of you why not do something simillar for this person lets no matyer which nice gesture might be. we act upon past events and before we realize more and more people can do more and more for others but it has to start somewhere somehow right
