Oh, those are definitely “warm, cozy, hot chocolate-drinking” colors. The way you used the brown wax turned a ho-hum piece (the before shot) into a detailed stunner (the after shot). 👏👍😻

I love those soft neutrals, and the way you highlighted the carvings. You made an outdated messy piece totally updated and beautiful. Have you thought of tiling the two top inset portions, or even two very thin marble, granite, or stone slabs in a matching shade? The edges can be slightly beveled so it slips right into place with a softened edge, after you glue them down. I’ve seen light shades in the stone showrooms too, a light tan coffee color with creamy veins. Will help protect the top from coffee cups, etc
