Stands to reason the KV-2 would have a metal chassis...nothing is graceful about that monstrosity. And btw you are a model building machine, Max! You inspire the rest of us. Well. you inspire me at least. 🦊

The instructions specify CA glue for the wheels. That's why it shows the CA glue icon at each of those connections instead of the regular cement icon. I don't care how many models a person has built in the past. They should always read the instructions first. It only takes about a minute to read through them before starting.

I have two 1/48 Tamiya tank kits - the M4 Sherman and the Pz.Kfz.IV , both of which include the two little cast metal weights. I need to build them soon. As "The Mighty Jingles" (YT Gaming Guru) says of the KV-2 - "Strenk Tenk!" It used to be a favorite of players on World Of Tanks. 😊

The early Tamiya 1/48 military model kits had the die cast or weighted chassis, with mixed reviews from modellers, I believe Tamiya have stopped doing it now with newer model kits. I’ll be up watching the Le Mans 24 hours so hopefully still awake to tune in later, model on

I always thought it was the older one and they used the metal chassis instead of the weights. Only built one of those kits and I made a mess of it.

@@garfieldsmith332 Tamiya were doing both types, weights may have been first but the die cast was around, Tamiya were doing the military kits like that and did a few 1/24 car kits, I have a few, in all cases it was a short term thing.

All of the earlier Tamiya 1/48 scale armor models seam to have had the diecast lower hulls, I always use CA glue, never had a problem. The later 1/48 scale kits have the plastic hulls with the weights.

Max is an Olympic class model builder - holding several World Speed Records. I built the Fujimi 1/76th scale KV-2 decades ago, it was a great kit. I do not like metal hulls. There are some 1/72nd scale Dragon kits that include a metal lower hull - they remain unbuilt. Grrrr.

Some of their newer 1/48 kits have the metal chassis. The Tiger I being one of them. I did not realize that the kits are well detailed. Nice that a kit of this scale make a nice detailed build. P.S> That was a big vehicle. The tank at 1/48 scale is bigger than the 1/35 scale SAS Jeep.

My Panzer IV kit in 1/48 is as well, maybe more, detailed than the 1/35 kit I built a few years ago. Lots of fidly wee parts! 😮

You may enjoy watching the YT by Mr Hewes of the British FV4005 one off tank. 1/1 scale modeling, oh my. It was to address the Russians but was a tad optimistic in design concept. It does have a 183mm noise maker and I would guess turn all tissue specimens inside into jello. Cheers Commander.

I made a comment the other day about TAMIYA 1/48 ARMOR KITS having metal cast HULLS….. ITS FOR WEIGHT, nothing more… MAX, you’re just THROWING these kits together ???????? SAD, just like mass production Quantity NOT QUALITY….. Any model kit can be done that way…. Those kits are nice, well detailed !!!!!! WHY BUILD A NICE WELL MANUFACTURED KIT JUST SLAP IT TOGETHER, just to get it done I take a little PRIDE in the things I do….
