To be fair I started watching tennis in January 2011. Nadal and Federer drew me to this sport, but from the 2011 AO semis when I first saw Djoker... I knew this man had something in him... but boy oh boy nobody saw this coming. I never argue against the fact that Federer plays the most beautiful tennis... never argued against the fact that Nadal was the king of clay... but never will I argue that Djoker is the greatest of all time. My ultimate sporting hero!

I started in 1980 because of Mac. Then I loved Agassi, but when the serving just got ridiculous I cut out for awhile. I started watching again exactly when you did. As soon as I saw Djokovic back then I believed it was possible that he could pass Fed and Nadal one day. But I admit, there were two or three times I came close to giving up hope. Makes it even more amazing to me that he did it.

All these ATP players (but also from the WTA) are so scared to speak up on the likely case that many or some ATP players have been Paid Off, Bribed, to lose to Novaq since 2022. Until the ATP, ITF AND others look deep into ALL top 100 ATP players' bank transactions, cell and computer (public computers, too)/tablet use, and pay phone, since 2022 through now, some players have been Bribed to lose to Novaq just so the White man advances on most records over Steffi, Serena and Margarette, and more majors than Rafael. Bigots and racists can say Rafael is White, but CASE HISTORY displays the Latino/Spanish name is hated in pop culture. COURT BIAS (bias and prejudice is the ONLY case for IF'S to work). The reason why most big tournaments are hardcourt every year is due to Western bias and prejudice. Many kids in most other places can only afford to train on dirt or clay. Had most big tournaments been played on clay every other year, Rafael would more-than-likely have 35 or so majors, many masters, more 500's and 250;s, and surely more Golds. His winning more of these tournaments on clay would have surely made him a better player on all surfaces. Novaq would have some 15 or so majors, and the rest of his records would be cut short. Rafael is GOAT by reasonable default. I don't know where Roger would be. THEY MUST CHECK ALL ATP 100 TOP PLAYERS' RECORDS as I mentioned above, until then many or some players have been Paid Off. These powers in tennis are human, prone to biases and prejudices as top executives in other sports: no one is special, no one is beyond questioning.

There is simply no weaknesses in his game. One of the best FH ever, best bh ever, best return ever, best mover ever, serve is elite, volleying is much improved and has the greatest mental toughness of every athlete ever. Has won quite literally every single important tournament at least twice (at least 3 for GS titles). Most weeks at No. 1. Always played against the crowd and media. Did all of this while coming from war torn Serbia. He is a Disney Movie come to life. Perseverance, Determination and Talent. Forget tennis, he is arguably the greatest sportsman of all time.

The most ridiculous narrative they are finding lately against Djokovic is that it is not fair for the competition against him because he has a body that gives him advantage... HELLO?? he built and nurtured that body of his... its not like he is home doing nothing and just shows up and wins... remember back in the day where they were making fun of him for being fragile and having a bad physical condition?! Those were the days... Djokovic is a monster of discipline. "My body is my temple" he states, and he means it 100%. Remember the mocking memes about him doing yoga, aromatherapy and a bunch of weird things? Well... guess what... IT WORKS. Whatever it is that he is doing, IT WORKS. His nutrition, his entire regiment including physical and mental preparation is on a level of its own. Taking that immense work he is doing to be where he is atm and reducing it to: "he is just gifted from nature" is downright insulting... Djokovic is just setting the bar... are you willing to go where he went? Its up to you. No more excuses. #GOAT

I'm glad that you finally see Federer's arrogance. It's why I always rooted for Nadal and then for Djokovic. It also hurt Federer's ability to improve. It stopped him from fixing his backhand much earlier in his career. That's among Djokovic's best features. He has constantly been willing to keep examining himself critically and trying to improve. Just look at his serve or his approach sots or volleys over the years. Look at the forehand he has beefed up this year so he doesn't have to grind out as many long points against a Medvedev or an Alcaraz. Rafa always was trying hard to improve in practive but rarely applied the same creativity or willingness to depart from his natural style. You saw glimpses of it in a few of his hard court runs where he beefed up his serve. All three had unfathomable natural gifts as tennis players. But it is Djokovic who has kept building on them for his whole career. And it's why he reigns as GOAT.

That's very good observation. It reminded me of a Novak interview I saw some days ago, where he said how often he gets approached by non-professionals, like tennis fans and spectators, who give him advices about his play. And that he always considers it and every now and then actually starts applying the advice in his game, because you can learn something smart from everyone. He's very open minded about learning and that's what has brought him to where he is today

Nice intro haha!! I was and still am a big Fed fan. I still have to admit that the GOAT debate is over according to stats it was decided by this heartbreaking loss in wimbledon 2019. Anyone can have an opinion but I think purely from tenis level standpoint I would still believe Federer at his best can reach the same and a little higher level than Novak. This even happened in wimbledon 2019. He was indeed outplaying him for most of the match. A mentally stronger Fed without previous losses scar tissue should win. The most interesting fact which we kinda already knew in my opinion but now its pretty much confirmed by Djokovic himself, is that it seems that Nadal and Federer, especially Federer never seemed to adapt to Djokovic. Fed even admitted it few times that he can play his 'normal' game plan against Novak. True maybe, but at least after for example Wimbledon 2015 he should think of new ways to beat Djokovic. In contrary, Novak indeed seemed always prepared against them, he particularly put work in, for these match ups. Is it too much pride from Fed? Some coaching mishandling? Don't know and it doesn't matter anyway. Even against Nadal, the player who supposedly got Fed thinking, it took a lot of time for him to adapt. (neo Fed backhand 2017-2019) Anyway, my point is that Novak cared about the big three rivalry more in terms of preparing and training and that is probably why he came on top. Thanks Matts for the videos, keep going. Can't wait for Wimbledon!!

No reason to hate him only because he keeps winning. Everyone acknowledges that Djokovic is one of the best tennis players. If there are any haters out there it's not because of him, it's purely because of the over-exaggerated praises and comments made by the Indian and Slavic communities on You Tube.

@@seatime674 The olympics is a bo3 sets tournament that takes place every 4 years. I get that it's "special" or whatever, but I can't think of a tournament that is a worse barometer for actual skills. RG is not the hardest major to win, obviously there are way more good players on hard courts at the moment (and for the last 15 years). Almost everyone in the top 10 is better or as good on hard court. Multiple players dont even care to play on clay. Physically, I suppose it might be the hardest although I think that USO might be that. Competition wise, it is definitely the weakest or 2nd weakest. Fed has more ATP titles, the difference is literally ATP 250 titles, so its pretty much a moot point when Nole has more 1000s and majors. Also, you said "Djok would be NOTHING compared to Rafa off Hard ct.", but nole without HC would be greater than Nadal without clay. He would still be arguably the best grass court player and 2nd best clay court player.

Thanx Matt. That opening Vida Loca production WAS AWESOME!!! Agree the Big-3 are all unique and part of what they achieved is the result of their triangular relationship to one another. That Nadal-Djokovic in the AO that one year that went 5+ hours was AMAZING for Nole turning the tide. That 2019 Wimbledon when Nole beat Nadal in the semis over two days AND THEN beat a prime Roger after 2 match points for Fed in the final WHOA! Those were two turning marker points for me in the TRIAD dynamics. Fed is the eldest brother, Rafa the middle child & Nole the baby who did not get love from 'mama-papa' in the stands. Federer is like a Mozart or a MIchelangelo. Nadal is like a Rocky Balboa heart pounding bull meets Mike Tyson on power. And Djokovic is like a Cirque-du-Soleil acrobat meets Magic Johnson-esque spiderman. Novak is the king of these 3 GOATS on being the best on all the surfaces...on longevity & on a phenominal decade+ of producing unbelievable levels and heartbreaks. Novak rules down-under + challenging Roger on grass while Rafael is the undisputed king of RG - by a loooooonnnng-shot! Cheers! Best, Milan

Gz Matt on your awesome podcast, I just started kinda casually going through them all at one point, I think it was after Wimbledon 2019. As a Djoker fan since the day he turned pro, I was really optimistic about how great he would be early on, always believing that one day he would manage to top both Fedal. Job's not done yet for him, hopefully he will be able to surpass Fed on grass. If you think about Djoker's performance on clay though, one could argue that he is actually the second best player on clay ever, after Nadal. He is tied at 3 titles on the number 2 spot for RG but in reality his titles are worth way more, because he achieved them in the era of Rafael Nadal, and he is the only one who beat him twice on the event despite the best efforts of the ATP for years to give him a more difficult draw, each time favouring Nadal either by giving him the best match times or even delaying the tournament so his drugs and steroids could kick in. In a way this RG for Nadal was karma for the AO last year one could say.

I think must see ones of those you can still see are after No1e's 2009 AO loss to Roddick, after 2009 Miami semifinal and the mentioned in the video one after 2011 USO semi. However, there are people who still remember Fed's interviews during 2005 Davis Cup match between Serbia and Switzerland and they say Fed was by far worst in those. Yeah a winning record edging out with just a single match! That's not the kind of advantage you'd want to flex your muscles with! He leads by hair 5-4! LMAO And the last two meeting were won back in 2010 and 2012, during times when Novak only started peaking! (well at least it's true for the year-end finals in 2010, not as much for their 2012 meeting at the olympics, where Roddick was nowhere near his prime anymore...) His 4 losses in a row to Roddick prior to that spans the period between the start of 2009 at the AO and the start of the 2nd half of the 2010 at Cinci masters, from 2009 till nearly the end of 2010 Novak was playing like crap, especially in 2010! he started to get his usual form around the time Davis Cup finals in the end of the year kicked in! (The famous moment, where he got his head shaved after winning the Davis Cup for Serbia!), so the 4 wins Roddick has over Novak spanning that period are questionable at best! Especially considering, that the 3 matches that they played from the 2nd half of 2007 till the USO of 2008 ended up with Novak winning 2 of them...if Novak played better between the start of 2009 and then end of 2010, that 4 losses in a row might have been converted into 3 wins and only 1 loss suddenly...but it is what it is and we'll never know now...

Don't pay attention to those guys telling you that you hate Novak, we can tell you are a cultured fan of the sport and that you at least appreciate Novak and his efforts to write history. I think people are more disgruntled that you inconsistently post videos, and really you do have a community following here, who want this type of content and commentary, and honestly, you are the best (or really among the best at least) tennis podcast KZbinr. Corporate Tennis media and TV pundits are too bland, boring, and politically correct and there isn't anyone really as good as you at this thing, you know tennis up and down, you have a good ability for storytelling and narrative control, you have a nice sense of humor. What I'm trying to say regarding the critics is that perhaps you should consider uploading more often, don't have to make long videos, or editing if it is too much work, just give your take on things, throw a joke here and there, you've got it, you are a natural at this. People telling here that you shouldn't retire with Fedex have a point, tennis is quite a followed sport, with an audience that wants this type of content. And in fact, a lack of quality talk, or quality podcast commentary with some soul and wits should encourage you to grow your channel, who knows what the future holds. Come on Matt, you can definitely have more subscribers and views than those tennis highlights ,,bozos'', as you would say. Love from Serbia.

HUGE Novak fan and so I LOVED the opening song. Genius! SO SO well done and funny. Love the jabs at the NEXT GEN guys. Rune with that rubber "toy" cracks me up. Did he find that in his mom's nightstand???? lol. Could you post the full lyrics that you sing? I understand 98 % but some words I can't quite get. Greetings from a German lady that adores Steffi Graf (and we share the same maiden/last name) living in Santa Barbara

Nice song Matt. Would you some day release the song you had created for Federer?

I'd say that Nole had Roger figured out before 2011, he had major wins over him at the AO and USO, he had him mentally and he knew what to do, his problem was Rafa, he lost in 2010 and after that had to find a solution, 0-5 in Slams before 2011, 7-6 afterwards, in 2011 he finally figured out Rafa, even on clay he started to match him and started getting wins even in Slams. I always said 4 most important matches in Novak's career are vs Federer Wimbledon 19, Nadal AO 12 and Wimbledon 18, but the most important match to me was FO 11 when he lost, because of the things I said, he had Roger figured out but he played off a bit and Federer was GOD mode, his first GS win vs Rafa came at Wimbledon, which was a blessing in disguise, I think if he'd of won that match vs Roger at the French he still loses to Rafa and still has that looming question of I can't beat him at Majors and Rafa gets a win finally and a confidence boost, I think that defeat made him realise how hard he has to work and improve even more, and that was in his best season
