Adrian, I am mexican and your statement about the legal system being swift and brutal, well sadly that only applies to foreigners. If this would've happened to a local citizen, it would've been swept under the rug like hundreds and thousands of people that have died to the hands of organized crime for decades. They only put all the force of the law in cases like this so that Mexico isn't tainted to outsiders. That's the truth

Another strange case that happened in Mexico: 25-year-old woman went to Mexico with her friends for a birthday trip and ended up dead. I have also lost two sons. One had a heart attack at 26; he too was newly engaged. Our other son vanished 5 years ago without anything he would’ve needed for a cold Northeast winter. He was 35 and living about 20 minutes away. We kept paying his rent in the early (hopeful) months. What we didn’t know was that a squatter moved in and we were paying HIS rent. Our son was an award-winning potter and had traveled extensively, owning precious objects from many countries. His apartment was stripped bare, so we also lost his art, his journals, everything that was “him.” He is still gone. This episode had me sobbing for those poor grieving parents and girlfriends. At least I have 4 other amazing children, but they’re still mourning too.

Hello, I love your videos. I am Mexican, born and raised in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. It hurts me that this tragedy took place in my country. Every country is dangerous in some type of way. I am not scared of living in Mexico, but I understand the fear some may feel about the violence and cartels. I know many people do not want to visit Mexico because of the cartels, but if anyone ever visits here is my advice. - Do not go outside at night - It is better to be in groups of people - Try to speak Spanish and avoid speaking too much English (bad people will think that you are rich) - Do not get involved in anything about drugs (some tourists come for easy access to drugs) - Do not speak about the Mexican government, police, or narcos/cartels. Remember, every country has some type of danger. I am Mexican and I understand the danger too. Which makes me sad because we have such a beautiful culture, and monsters ruin our country. Currently, I am studying in the United States, but even here I do not feel save because everyone around me carries a gun. And people shoot others because of stupid arguments. Yet, I am not just criticizing. Every country has something negative. I have lived in Japan and Canada too, and they also have dangers.

As an American who lives in Tijuana , this case really caught my attention. It was the talk of the week by many locals. You forgot to mentioned that they were trespassing into a private beach area. Areas owned by wealthy Mexicans who all the locals knew they were associated with the cartels. They were warned by many locals to leave. Also alcohol played a mayor role. Nobody knows how the Australians reacted when confronted. But I’ve seen it so many times with foreigners here in Baja. Always looking for that private beach area where it’s not flooded with tourists. Baja is not that bad actually. If you stay humble and not looking for any problems nothing will happen to you. It’s all about respect. I feel a whole lot safer here in Baja than I do in the States. Tijuana is a booming town , and there are alot of “ gringo” communities. We shouldn’t see this video as black or white.
