In part two of three of Coffee or Die's D-Day 75th anniversary coverage, Marty Skovlund, Jr. and the crew from BRCC link up with active duty soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division as well as World War II veterans in Carentan and Sainte-Mère-Église, where some of the most intense combat of the invasion took place 75 years ago.
Even though there aren't many locals left who remember life under Nazi occupation, the citizens of Normandy still go above and beyond to show their appreciation to this day.
"They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate."
-- President Franklin D. Roosevelt's during his official address announcing the D-Day invasion

These old men were some of the toughest most bad ass individuals when they were young. I wish they never had to pass away. We’ll probably never have a generation as awesome as they’ve been

@@loomzoom Ignorant, arrogant and unintelligent piece of shit. Death comes for anyone and anything. Sitting behind your screen and calling actual heroes whose brothers died around them, "cowards". Lmao, you're a joke kiddo.

Idk what it is, ever since I joined (14yrs ago) the National Anthem means more, the Flag means more, and learning about these moments in history presented in this way pulls a few tears out of me every single time.

Its great that you interviewed that female veteran. I think oftentimes women's roles in the war effort were overlooked or just generalized as "Rosie The Riveter."

These young adults went in, unabashed, let's get ourselves an end to this darn war, their valor and human grandeur remains unparalleled, driven by believing in existing order of society and freedom of speach, don't think, they were naive about their own culture, nor societal challenges, which adds to their achievement

False equivalence and an insult to all our brave heroes lying in those war cemeteries. We and our allies were the liberators. You can't spell tyranny and you obviously know nothing of history. The Wehrmacht occupied countries and they operated as willing agents of mass killers, and each of them took a personal oath to defend that deluded drug addict with the Charlie Chaplin moustache. You do not know a thing about the history of WW II if you think they were exactly on the same moral, ethical and legal standard as the allies. By claiming that our soldiers did not stand on higher ground in a moral sense, you slander both the dead and the remaining living veterans. Perhaps you do not mean to do so, but that is how it sounds.
