2:38 You have no idea how much of a relief it is to hear you say it's hard to keep oversight of the world and that certain things are hard to determine "does this look good" after placing so many of them. I've always been interested in level/world design, but I ran into this exact problem and always felt it was something I was doing wrong. To hear someone of your caliber say the same thing is a huge relief for me. You do an amazing job! Keep up the awesome work!

You can instantly tell the world of Satisfactory is hand crafted after just a small amount of exploring. If you see a cliff, You'll naturally find a way up it just by looking around. It's a beautifully crafted map. Exploring is very rewarding and really lets you see all that hard work Hannah and the team has done. Thank you!

@Hanburger hey! Hoe is de wereld tot stand gekomen? Was er een concept art folder ter inspiratie? Een werkdocument met ideeën? Of had je vrij spel? Prachtig werk in elk geval. Er is een mooie balans tussen esthetiek en functionaliteit. Ook: Slakjes jagen zonder ladders/ramps is altijd een avontuur en de routes ernaartoe lijken steeds opzettelijk nauwgezet.

Didn't know anything about the game when i bought it (friend referral) but i knew the world wasn't procedural within the first minutes of exploration. The level design is really smart. Verticality is handled well. Secret passages etc. The feeling of "expansion" of the world works perfectly. When you start in a biome you can pretty easilly be led to think that the world is much smaller than it really is. Transitions between some biomes just work perfectly (like transition between that desert and the grass fields up the waterfall) and enhance the exploration process. I've been thinking about that so it's amazing to put a face behind this. Great work Hannah !

Please keep doing these. It's so awesome getting to know the real people behind the creators of such a fantastic game. I've played a lot of games in my lifetime, and I can only think of maybe one or two faces attached to any of them -- and it's usually only top level execs. This shows a great deal of respect to the employees as well as the entire gaming industry.

My best friend and I have been playing for about 2 mos now, and well go on an expedition sometimes when we need slugs and well still be dumbfounded at how beautiful the world is and discover something new with every expedition. Whenever we need to expand our factory well constantly comment how cruel this game is in that it forces you to sacrifice the environment for the sake of growth or choose the opposite. I love all the detail thats put into the game and I cant thank you guys enough for the work you put in.

So I feel like this is the perfect video to leave my problem xD. Next to my base, there is a piece of the map where to ground plates come together but don't fit. It's hard to explain where it is but I'll try my best: It lies in the forest of the huge trees with the trees you can't destroy. There is a lake somewhere In the middle of that biome and next to that lake there are 3 pure copper nodes and 1 limestone node. Around 200 meters or less from that lake, there are 2 pure iron nodes. Next to the iron node is where the map problem is. When you come walking from the lake its on the right of the iron node. Also, another problem I encountered is that there are bushes you can't remove by hand or by chainsaw. It is a medium-sized purple/pink bush also in the huge trees biome.

Dear Hannah! Thx for all the work. For all the rocks, trees and bushes (specially the ones we will never get out of one of our buildings!) but - let's be honest: We loooooove your designes. We often just stand in the game for many many many minutes just stunned from the look. we actually lost ourselfs during a trip through one of the bioms in the snap of two seconds - cause there are so many trees and stuff! :D Not only the gameplay brings joy, your work too. (original quote back then: whoever the hell builded this many trees and bushes - go to hell!

Hi Jace! I don't have computer for playing the Satisfactory, but I liked to watch the video about the game, and all the time when u made it new one, I'm all time satisfied. So, maybe start to call this like "SATISVIDEO" or "SATISSTORIO"?! And question to Hannah: u already have something like Easter eggs on the map? Or just planning something like this? And thanks for your game, "PRIVET" or with love from Russia!

My favourite thing in the game is just looking at all the prety sights, it's just that beautiful. Close second is reshaping said beautiful scenery, the lake with the forest around it is nice, but it's also nice when I lay down 200 Nobelisks and obliterate nature with 1 button press.

the levels actually looks so good and different between biomes that I often say "fck it" to some production tuning, grab bunch of tools and weapons, pile of concrete and just go out exploring for hours. It feels like I am in some survival game (with all the crashed spots and monsters). It is obviously not that gameplay wise but exploration is amazing. I think they should focus on it more - its just another benefit of the game that is already there, just leverage it.

Simple tip for varied and plausible landscape level design: what is happening to the water? I say this because the majority of what you see on a landscape is the result of where water is going, where it collects and where it comes from. If you think of world design from a storyline perspective, the shape of the landscape is a reflection of it's history. Shaped by events and consequences. Ideas for what to add will come more easily if you approach the landscape as a character in a story. For example, at present this region does not seem to get much rain. The flat topped plateaus would only form where rain could not erode the tops of hills. Instead, the pillars have been formed by groundwater and wind. It would therefore make no sense for there to be forests on the high ground as there is minimal water. However, the hotsprings and geothermal vents would also bring deepcore minerals up to the surface so crystal formations in and around the swamps would make a ton of sense. It would also follow that amethyst nodes would be found there as a result. The region to the south east also has no significant water sources and the sheer cliffs indicate it is the edge of a tectonic plate therefore water would be draining away from this region as it is rising up. Consequently, the SE region should be savannah or desert and not fields and forests.

Really? One person (or 2) ?? The world if f*ckntastic!!! This is absolutely impressive! There are so many times where I am simple running from one place to other in search of some slugs or wrekages and suddenly some gorgeous scenery comes to view. Btw, there is no way right now that a dynamically generated world would be as rich as a skilled handcrafted one. Take for example no man's sky worlds...
