Who else’s heart stopped when Tucker started stretching out on the ground behind the truck? 1:48 I was like: “Noooo, please be driving forward please .... or at least get out of the way, Tucker!” Phew! Man, everything is looking so good, you guys are the definition of DIY... I feel so lazy just watching you but I’m proud of you 🤗🤗🤗 Those Victoria Crowned Pigeons are soooo beautiful! Do they play? The barn is looking awesome, the tags will fit right in they will add character to the barn. Mildred is so sweet, will she be going into the new pasture with Moody ? I think they would be fine together. Moody is a gentle soul he would probably protect Mildred. The aviary is gonna be huge ! I always look forward to what is going on at the Cog 40.

LOL, when Brooke said to Ruby, "check it out, is it level?" Ruby really tilted her head as if to check the level and 'chirped' her assessment/agreement. I love how Jason, Brooke and MC always engage with all the animals and they with their human counterpart. It reminds me of when the 2 peahens stood around Jason and Brooke when they tested the log splitter. True PITs. These farm animals have each their unique personality. Even Mildred starts to show hers in this video.

Good morning y'all‼️I have a suggestion for MaryCarl concerning her eggs. She might want to take an old flat piece of parker-bored or a thin piece of scrap plywood. Then paint it with the chalk pant to make a chalk bored. Then hang it on the wall by her eggs so she can keep track of them. I would also suggest a sharpie so she can put the day, date, and time she gathered the egg when she puts it N the incubator. One more thought about the chalkboard you can always put small lines of paint tape on the board before you paint it and make a grid 2 help keep up with your dates and you times for your eggs. Or you could just get a whiteboard and Draw them on their as u like. Have a great day🌞‼️ RTR🌊

I think Piper needs to come back over and switch out Mildred’s halter. Maybe on the same day that you introduce the new Aviary to its new residents. Love the new look of the Barn. So very exciting! And, Mr. Moody getting his own pad. He is going to run and romp in that huge pasture with all that grass. I don’t know where to begin … The Barn looks just Amazing. Love that you used the old stuff and didn’t get that shiny new metal. It would have taken the Charm out of the barn itself. Hope you can get the vaccination stuff worked out for Arlo, poor guy needs his grooming! We have to take in updates to our groomer too, but they do tell us when we book the appt. Jason, you are a man with many talents and I know Mary Carl is getting so excited. Mary Carl I know absolutely nothing about birds, but don't you get disappointed, all your new babies will come in time. HA! Purple Pigeon Palace! LOVE IT! When adding the roof to the aviary, consider adding brackets at the top of each pole. That way, the tops of your 4x4s won't split after 5-10 years from screwing down into the tops where water can get in, AND you can undo your screws from UNDERNEATH if you ever have to do some repairs, instead of having to crawl around on top!

the best way to secure those 4"x4" post to the ground is to dig the hole, fill the hole with mixed concrete, insert Simpson Strong Tie Brackets into the top of the poured concrete footing, need to line up the brackets with a Lazer Level. Secure post to bracket with appropriate Simpson Fastners, these brackets will keep the wood post off of the ground and allow them to be nearly indestructible

Your auger is your best friend! Makes post holes a breeze with quick set concrete. Finding poles for sensible prices is probably the biggest challenge left to you. Nice problem to have really. Be well all. 😉

We buried our hardware cloth on our chicken run too. Also have a cement pad under each of the gates to prevent digging too. Netting has worked great over the run except once when a big tree limb put a hole in it and I didn’t realize until a raccoon came in through it and got nine of my chickens. We have an automatic door and he put his little paws right under there and lifted the door. Fixed that problem with a piece of angle iron. Live and learn I guess. Arlo said he might need to keep his hair a little longer to make it through winter.

Barn is looking great! Sometimes, you just have to realize you can't get everything done yourself to meet the timelines. Worth it to hire someone who knows what they are doing and get it done. Otherwise, you stress out and get frustrated on lack of progress. At 65, my back just can't handle the work I used to do. Going to get help for the bigger jobs. And have to take breaks and do things to make it enjoyable. Last Friday, it was burning a huge brush pile. Wasn't the highest on my priority list, but needed to be done to make space for more brush clearing, and I love doing it.

The tough part for Mary Carl is the outside temp isn’t consistent so the incubator is constantly struggling to keep temperature. Same thing happened to me when I had my incubator in a similar situation. Once I moved it inside my hatch rates moved up to 95%

Yep, maybe y’all can build a incubation and hatching room…insulated of course, with acrylic sheets for windows or old recycled windows and a door so everything can be temperature controlled. Maybe…in the future. Love this family…city folks need to watch and learn how to interact with each other.

Brooke and Jason are actually city folks who learned what they know by just growing the garden first in the city then buying the Little Cog where you can go back and see the progression to the Cog 40! I think Jason and Brooke are just typical Alabama people who love the country life. He is just a friendly guy. Not all city folks are cold and distant. I am a city person who really loves growing stuff but I am not so fond of people. Too much greed in the city. You feel like you cannot trust your neighbors here because they might sell out to a flipper. There are reasons for attitudes. Try not to disparage people who are in the city. But I agree Jason and Brooke are really sweet people I would love to have as neighbors!

No trees, no wildlife, living in huge apartment buildings, etc. Stacked on top of each other like cord wood. Big cities...it is a shame that the only wildlife they get to see are those unfortunate animals that live in cages called zoos. I was not disparaging anyone on purpose. Typical Alabama people are great! I am a third generation person from Florida (PCB to be exact) and my son is 4th generation born in FL. My family has been in the US since the 1720's and started out in SC Low Country.. I just wish that 'city' folks could get out away from the crowded cities and see what our wonderful country has to offer and is all about. Loving and giving people. Self-sufficient people. People who help each other in times of need. And celebrate each other in times of Joy. I certainly did not mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. But, I am very glad you read my entire update. Fertility matters. If the eggs were fertile there would be something there to see and there's not. No blood rings or anything. I think he isn't fully mounting her since MC says they have bonded. They are a young pair so time will tell. I personally think they should use the R-Com incubator because it regulates temps and humidity much better and faster! Regardless it will happen!
