I have and used the same mag bar with relative ease but the DOAN bars are superior. Must have higher magnesium content. But this one would do the job it's intended for.

Can you use magnesium shavings and a lighter? Like use the spark wheel to spark the magnesium?

I suppose you could shave off Magnesium from the outside radii around the Ferro Rod, to expose more of the rod, but with the risk of the rod falling out, already a possible problem...........well...........

Good video man! Made me re-think a few points. I watched another video where the gent said it was the cheapo Chinese ones that didn't work so well. Ones that almost look like they were spray painted silver. --> watch?v=frDMAOlIGaY I look forward to seeing where you go next with it.
