Hi Margaret, you are a person who believes in the Bishops preaching. You say you are catholic, which I never understood someone calling themselves a catholic instead of what scripture says a believer is.A believer says, I'm a follower of Jesus Christ my Saviour, or I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ, I'm a saint, I'm a servant of Jesus Christ, I'm placed into the body of believers. I'm born again believer washed in the Blood of Jesus my Saviour, I believe in God the Father, Jesus Who is God the Begotten Son of God, and God the Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus is the way, the Truth and the Life and that no man can come to God the Father except thru Jesus Christ. I put no put no idol before God, not money, influence, man,family, or any other before my God the Father, Jesus Who is the Word made flesh and now sits at the right hand of the Father on the Throne. These are who I am and what I believe. Without fail ppl talk about Christians and Catholics. They are separated, two beliefs. A huge chasm so not the same before God the Father. God doesn't refer to His children as catholic, but believers, disciples of Christ. I wrote all this bc I don't know if you are aware that the two have separate beliefs. They cannot be both of God which means one is biblical according to the written Word of God and one is mixed with doctrines of demons. We can't have both and be Christian. So, which are you before God, a born again Christian or a catholic? I'm not scolding you, I could see you care about Truth or you wouldn't care to listen to what another religion was preaching. I tried asking in a way that would cause you to critique what is God's Truth? I'm 79,a great grandma and I am being a grandma to you. A grandma embraces her family.

The Clark Sisters are not going to fuss with Beyonce about a sample because people in the music business look at one another as teammates regardless of genre. Beyonce may play offense (secular) and the Clarks may play defense (gospel), but they're all entertainers in the music business. Besides, as you alluded to, given that the Clarks are in the twilight of their careers those royalty checks will come in real handy. Does anyone think Twinkie is going to kill the goose laying the golden eggs? As to your question about whether gospel musicians should play secular music, I'll answer it this way: Jesus talked a lot about commitment, counting the cost, sacrifice and forsaking one's own desires for the Kingdom of God. You can't find anything he says that encourages straddling the fence, co-mingling, or sliding back-and-forth. Jesus was very all-in or all-out in his messages; he preached mutual exclusivity. No one can serve two masters, he who sets his hand to the plow but yet looks back is not fit for the Kingdom, he who has left family, property, etc., for the sake of the gospel will receive many times as much, and I could go on. Now, you can play for the world and play for the church and your talent will make room for you in both worlds and both worlds will love you. The question the musician has to answer is does playing both sides of the fence please God. Because of Jesus' emphasis on picking a side throughout the gospels, I'd say it does not.

As a young musician starting out at 12 yrs old playing in clubs with well known R&B acts, didn't know about being a church musician used by God. Twelve years later, I am playing in a club and began worshiping God on the instrument. A few years later I find myself as a church musician. I was a changed young man. I have no problem playing on the stage to help support my home & Family. For me these are two different worlds and I walk circumspect to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the Gospel even when no one is watching.

It’s always been about money. Where have you been? This is not new. This has been going on for like 80 years. Do the research. Gospel musicians have been playing around in secular backyards for at least 80 years. They have been doing this “dance” before most of us were alive. It isn’t going anywhere. I didn’t say it wasn’t wrong - I’m just saying it isn’t going anywhere. As long as Money rules - nothing’s changing. Gospel music used to make a lot of money…until it didn’t. Then they all started using each other’s music. And we are where we are. Gospel musicians let secular musicians sample because they are ruled by the color green too. The church needs to get real. None of this is new. They have been profiting off the secular world for a long time. Let’s talk about that. Beyoncé is not the real issue here. I’m tired of them using her as an example when this has been going on since before she was born. Even in the 1950s, Mahalia Jackson said she listened to blues but couldn’t tell anyone. She says she listened because the blues told the stories of the people just trying to survive. She felt their words in her spirit- but couldn’t talk about that around church people.

It, (sex), is an intimate natural gift from God for a couple committed to each other, under God, (with Christian witness to the marital vow....sealed before the specified domicile State) of Holy matrimony. It, as well as the entirety of the marriage union, have spiritual implications of God and the church as His bride. This is a relevant and broad (but direct) topic. Christians are being called out to declare, by mouth and actions, who's on the Lord's side.
