How does TPR affect venous return???
@alimansour3550 Жыл бұрын
Increased TPR is going to increase afterload, which will make it harder for the heart to pump blood into the circulatory system which will lead to decreased blood in the circulatory system and this will eventually lead to decreased volume of blood in the veins which will decrease venous return.

But doesn’t vasoconstriction also force more blood into the right atrium? I mean veins are reservoirs for blood so if you constrict them, they inevitably increase pool elsewhere, which is heart. This sounds very contraindicatory because here in this case more blood is returned to heart, and in your case less blood is returned to heart. What am i missing? This is killing me

TPR and after loads are associated with constriction of arterioles, not the constriction of veins. Don't confuse TPR/Afterload with venoconstriction @@nikhilreddy1659

@@nikhilreddy1659TPR depends upon the constriction of your arterioles, not the veins.

@@YourDay67 yeah i figured it out. Back then i was confused. I thought the term vasoconstriction applied for veins too in general. Thanks anyways.
