I'm as far from a Baptist as you can get, but I'm almost totally positive he was just joking. He actually seems like a pretty cool guy.

A bad video and example, indeed. The dude seems genuine and made a pretty solid point. The second part was simply in jest; pure sarcasm. Heck, I often feel the same way as he.

Hymn #20: The steadfast love of the Lord Change to large font Refrain The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. Your mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, new every morning: great is your faithfulness, O Lord, great is your faithfulness!

Excellent example of the contradictions spoken by fundamentalist preachers.

I'm the son of an Independent Baptist Minister, and I agree with Nate Phelps recent speech at the Reason Rally: "For years I bore the label of being Rebel, but when confronted with the God of my father, I realized that rebellion was the only moral option."

I don't even know this preacher, but I can tell the narator is taking the entire sermon and everything the preacher said completly out of context.

Thats pastor Lou . I went to his church as a child.

You are the one sowing discord, which isn’t surprising because that’s the whole theme of your channel. He is obviously joking.

You r being a little picky with the man's words here. He was talking in jest not anger.

"Your opinion could send people to hell"? It must be sad to serve such a tiny little god who is so helpless.

He never said he wanted to kill anyone. He said box their ears, which means beat them up. But I think you missed the greater point. First he preaches agains arrogance, then he displays it using humor as a cover. Not cognitive dissonance, false humility.

Kingseller2 there ya go. I caught that immediately.

Are you saying the angel of death that flew over Egypt only boxed the ears of the Egyptian slavers? That's what "death angel" refers to biblically.
@rushiasingsfasola6 жыл бұрын
Then read 2 Sam 24:16-17...David saw the angel of the Lord boxing people's ears and asked God to box his ears instead...only idiots read that text that way!

Probably should pull this one, its kind of lame. I know this guy personally he really is a great guy, used to be a biker years ago, he struggles horribly with Juv onset diabetes that's why his "delivery" as you put it is not that good. Most of your stuff is funny, this is not....

A god whose plans for a person's salvation can be thwarted by a mere mortal man expressing an opinion is not "mighty."

When someone teaches you science and math using a thousand year old book, worst calling it God and authority, know that these guys are delusional and they don't even know it.

I call BS. This is nothing more than a few jokes to make his point. You picked a poor example. Even I as a former fundie atheist, can't agree with you... because I do not suffer from cognitive dissonance.

To the "It was just a joke!" crowd: How does *joking about starting a ministry that way* jive with "the servant of the Lord must be gentle"? Hypothetically, "I would like to start a ministry of being gentle and patient" (which is what the verse in 2 Tim. 2:24 says) would be a joke AND avoiding cognitive dissonance! No one said that pastor is a threat for domestic terrorism violence, but rather that he uses cognitive dissonance....for saying one thing (reading verse that concerns gentle and patient) and then using a "joke" that hinges on ministry being decisively NOT gentle and patient.

Great job editing. How about listening to the whole sermon? Dr Spencer is one of the greatest expositors in the fundamental Baptist world. All you have ever done is make fun of preachers.
