3:09 but the distance is unknown in the question that this equation was applied to. We were given the final velocity. Does that mean that the second equation is used whenever anything other than time is known?

if the question doesn't give you a specific acceleration use earths acceleration yes for the best but sometimes exams will give you earths acceleration mostly

The letter "S" means displacement and since acceleration is a vector quantity, shouldn't it be displacement instead of distance??

thats because it is a known fact that free fall on earth is 9.8m/s squared, so u need to memerise this fact (sometimes it is rounded to 10m/s squared but yeah)

It's the gravitational force, because the ball is being dropped you need to apply gravity to the ball!

umm....... that is simple division bro... dividing 49... not taking squared root.(if thats what confusing u)

because 7 squared - 0 is 49 / (earths acceleration * 2 = 19.6) so 49/19.6 = 2.5

I have a doubt as acceleration is m/s squared. Shouldn't it be time x time in the first problem. 20/25....... Because acceleration = displacement/time x time. Sorry I'm new to physics. Any help would be much appreciated

because thats earth acceleration and if exams are saying a object is falling without giving you a specific acceleration it will be set auto to earths acceleration which is 9.8

9.8m/s2 is the gravitational force, any object that is falling or dropped has a force of gravity applied, meaning you need to include the acceleration of 9.8m/s2 (gravity)

see everything in earth accelartes at 9.8 m per second so thats the accelaration and in the formula u have to multiple the accelartion by 2 so he multiplied 9.8 by 2
