You and free science lessons are the only reason why I can even say that I am actually confident in Science, I'm in year 9, so not all the knowledge will apply to me yet, but it is still helping me, thank you so much for the help

I remember when I was in year nine and these videos helped me too, even if not directly mentioned in lessons yet, pieces of information like this give context to the basic knowledge built during earlier years which can assist in grasping them better, especially when paired with a loud disruptive class that may not get through all the content. Good luck in later years, these videos will serve you well all the way to year eleven.

The video explains the differences between speed and velocity, and distance and displacement, providing formulas and examples to understand these concepts. Key moments: 00:04 Understanding the difference between scalar and vector quantities is crucial in physics. Speed is a scalar quantity, conveying only magnitude, while velocity is a vector quantity, indicating both magnitude and direction. -Differentiating between distance and displacement is essential in physics, with distance being scalar and displacement being vector, both providing magnitude but displacement also giving direction. -Calculating speed involves dividing distance by time, resulting in a scalar value, while calculating velocity requires considering displacement over time, yielding a vector value with direction. -Using velocity allows for representation of negative values to indicate direction, and calculating average speed or velocity involves dividing total distance or displacement by total time taken for the journey. 04:19 Different objects have varying speeds, with people walking at 1.5m/s, cars at 25m/s, and planes exceeding 250m/s. Speed can be influenced by factors like age, health, and effort. -Sound waves travel at 330m/s in air but change speed in different mediums like water. Wind speed can vary from still to faster than a train, affected by factors like temperature and atmospheric pressure. -Speed is not the only variable, as structures like buildings and mountains can affect wind speed. Understanding these factors helps in comprehending the speed of various objects.

Why we calculate speed with direction is velocity but we know that the speed is distance by time and the velocity is displasment by time so speed with direction as velocity but it's distance not displacement so why we calculate like this what's is reason, please solve my confusion,..(please........)
@ritalazarus4419
@ritalazarus4419 3 жыл бұрын
It is because distance and time are both scalar quantities, but displacement is a vector quantity. To get the scalar quantity speed we use scalar quantities, distance and time. To get the vector quantity, velocity, we need the direction as well, so we use the vector quantity, displacement.

@Cognito Hello! Just one thing, at 4:04 why is it also displacement that you can use to calculate the average speed over the course of the whole journey? Is it that they both give a magnitude? I’m rlly confused 🙁😭
@thewasabithatmakesyoongicry

Yes, the answer would be the same, except for the fact that with displacement, you'll also get direction, which doesn't matter unless you need it :)
